That’s outstanding. I’d hate it if I were told I couldn’t use a tool. Any of them.
I spoke with a rep from the company that supplies the electrodes and generator/battery for the DBS I'm going through.
Very interesting history on the device......... but he said the rechargeable battery I'm going with and which will be planted in the right chest area is very thin - and is shielded.
He said I don't need to stop using anything, just don't be careless about bare wires and so on. Patients are continuing to use welders and other power tools and no problem with magnets or magnetic fields.
So it sounds like tool use and keep on keeping on as usual.
He said I should have no problems.

Tomorrow, another trip over to Iowa City Hospitals for the fishing of the wires down from skull, through neck, then to right chest where they'll plant the generator/battery pack.
I'm going with the rechargeable vs. the non-rechargeable.
The non-rechargeable has a life of 2 to 5 years, depending on the strength of the signal it needs to send, and then has to be replaced.
The other lasts 15 years, regardless of use, and can be recharged daily or weekly, or in between, depending on strength of signal needed from it.
I don't know if they use conduit for their wires or romex wires for this, or if they use the same type of connectors Jeep uses for the door harness - I sure hope not.

Supposed to check in by 11:30, I assume surgery is shortly after that. Thankfully, they knock me clear out for this so I won't have to feel them tugging and pulling at my scalp or the heavy rope used for stitches as they go through the scalp.

You'll be out for the whole thing. After they are done. You may feel the wires in your neck if you twist it all the way to the opposite side. Tell they to put a little extra slack in the neck area.

I get to go home tomorrow. Restricted until Friday. Then no restrictions.

Cyborg??
OMG, they can make Bill better???
Glad you two are getting fixed up , as I always say don’t stop , never stop ,fix it and keep moving. Had my eight year old heart valve checked today, good to go, next cataract surgery end of December and second week of January , decided to change my shot eyes from nearsighted as hell to look out here I come farsighted as shit! Who would have though! Left eye Cataract is believed to have been caused by an electrical shock to my head.
As for wiring , Bill as an electrician nothing beats explosion proof ridgid conduit , bending the conduit is tough but not as tough as you ever bending again.
I have seen the wiring they do it is at least better than the screws they put into broken legs, painful to listen to the screws being stripped.
Still glad you two are good to go!…..Jack

I could tell when he was attaching the plastic caps to my skull with the screws...........

I hadn't looked at the scans until tonight. I figured since they showed me little short leads that went into the brain ,they might be like a couple of inches wrong. Uh, no. when they say DEEP, they mean DEEP.

I wonder if I need a firewall on this thing......... maybe like the SGW?

I have cataract surgery scheduled for 11/6 and 11/13. I'm getting toric lens to fix my astigmatism for distance.

Home now. This is what I have in my heart. Thought it was a 2 piece thing. But it's not. It's smaller than a AAA battery.

Feel great. Blood pressure is steady. Everytime it gets checked. It's been around 110 over 70. Go up and down stairs without getting winded.
I normally would get a heart beat around 33 bpm when I first laid down to bed. I could feel my heart beat slow down and beat harder. Sometimes it felt like it would flutter too. Last night it was just steady.
