Every time I leave the truck running and get out and shut the door the horn honking infuriates me.
Some times I remember not to shut the door but when I'm opening gates or checking my trailer alignment I have other things on my mind and the horn goes off.

The last time it did it I was inspired to buy another car for a daily driver, a Toyota product, which emits a sedate little beeping noise when I get out while the engine is running.

I've considered cutting the horn wire but I'm sure I'll need it in traffic shortly after I do that.

So far my best idea is a relay in the seatbelt sensor that interrupts the signal to the horn.
The only reason I haven't done it yet is I'm lazy.

I get inspired every time the damn horn honks at me.

Thanks, when I first looked into it a couple years ago I don't remember it being something I could turn off with a Tazer.

Ear plugs? Crank up the tunes before you exit? I do like the cut the horn wire concept.

I wonder who it is at Jeep that gets to sit around and dream up these useless and ridiculously stupid features? The "auto park" one that automatically shifts to park if the door is open while moving slowly made me want to throw a brick through the windshield years ago...I had to kill that one with a seatbelt extender buckle.

You actually could cut the wire and run your own separate from the computer stuff. I’m in the process of doing that for an air horn. (Have been for a very long time now :CWL: ) I have everything together except the switch. I’ll be running that off its own relay to a dead pedal mounted momentary switch. It’s an option if you get into the “seeing red when the horn goes off” arena.

Well, somebody died to initiate that one.

Looks like that was available with v11.3.6 on March 24, 2022.

My plan is to put a relay in the line to the horn controlled by an Aux Switch set to start up turned off. That way I can disable it, but the horn returns to normal at next startup if I forget to turn it back on.

The honks are annoying, but mostly because they are loud. I leave it running frequently while doing errands in the heat. Apparently, it's not that bad, because I haven't got around to putting the relay in and I've had the truck for over two years.

My 2013 Nissan has always done this. The horn is not very loud and I barely notice it.

I have found the 3 horn beeps to be extremely annoying when you are sneaking up on game and have to get out and open a gate. Like I said I leave the remote in the Jeep.

You really can just put in an inline switch because the horn is about useless in traffic because if you are in that much danger of a collision the damn jeep stops itself.

I still haven’t installed my Jscan stuff because really, the TPMS warning that pops up actually helps me out by letting me know my tires are exactly where I set them. I’m at constant risk of slow leaks from tire damage so it gives me peace of mind at start up knowing my pressures.

I saw a clip this morning.
A RAM truck owner parked at a gas pump and opened the door to get out. His door just barely cleared the steel post set in concrete that guards the pumps.
When he got out, the truck rolled back just enough so that the door couldn't be closed because now it hits the steel post.
Tried to crank it again to pull up a few inches, but guess ... you can't crank it with the door opened. 🤣

+1 Point to Jeep for removable doors.

Tazer turns it off. The horn honking was the sole reason I bought one but I have found a few other live features that I like. It isn’t perfect. Mine quits working after about 6 weeks but cycling in to the menu fixes it. It has done this through every firmware and on two different Gladiators.

There’s no setting in Jscan or Alfaobd to disabled?
