I called my dealer today to schedule an appointment for them to do the clutch recall. They told me that the recall has been delayed because the fix Jeep had didn’t really work and they’re waiting for a new solution from Jeep.

Had anyone else experienced this?

Yes, my clutch works fine - for now. From what I understand, the problem is that the pressure plate can fly apart and damage surrounding stuff (and probably leave you stranded)

Yeah, there's been other discussion on this in other threads. It's going back to engineering as they've found these still burn and fail after the two prior recalls.

Yes, there have been fires, and blown clutches resulting in transmission bell housing and case breaks leaving you stopped really fast.

Yeah I just had a major headache that cost me close to $5000 because of a shitty dealer, shitty customer service from Stellantis, and the shitty factory clutch.

Maybe instead of half-assing a recall to fix a half-ass design, just give me a couple grand towards installing a properly designed clutch that already exists (of course I sign away liability from FCA for any future clutch-related failure), and we're all done with it.

Just wrapped up the centerforce install on our 22 this morning. Kit was complete, took 5hrs to get in with hydrolics. I might add I do have a hoist so that helps. Large amount of dust in the stock clutch assembly. Truck has 22k miles on it, wasn't really acting up yet, but we are starting to pull 4200lbs with it on the regular, didn't want a catastrophic failure. Going to see if my local dealer will comp some for labor, seeing as stelantis is dragging their feet on the fix. This clutch setup is sooooo much better than factory. Knowing this now I would have dropped the trans when it first came home and swapped it.

I have just one question - and depending on the answer, I might suggest to Stellantis that they purchase an existing 3rd party clutch for these -
How much more pressure does it take to release your new clutch compared to the factory clutch?
Over the years, sometimes they'd 'made tings easier' to appeal to a different market segment - some people who don't want to stress a leg pushing a clutch but want a stick, that sort of thing.
If it takes more effort to push in a replacement clutch, and the stock clutch is easier to push in and hold released, could be a problem.
I drove my friends GTO with a centerforce clutch in it and I could hardly get the damned thing released - holy crap - I've driven a variety of sticks all my life in all sorts of cars, trucks and tractors but that thing was stupid heavy to release. Made it hard to drive.

Overall the clutch effort is maybe 10% more, my wife is 110lbs, it's her daily, she is fine with it so far. The consistency of travel is far ahead of the mopar stock. Release with centerforces hydolics is consistent, and about 1" off the floor. The flywheel makes starting much smoother. We are geared to 5.13's with 37's so we start in second on the street. Overall I'm much happier with the run-out of the system. Deffinately not a "man" clutch. Still very manageable.

That's what I was wondering. My neighbor and I were even talking about clutches last week - he's had knee replacements, etc. and when someone asked him about his son's new engine and T5 for his firebird, my neighbor said "I pushed clutches for a living for over 35 years, I don't need to do it now, I've nothing to prove" I laughed and agreed. Tractors, combines, grain trucks, and my personal cars and trucks. No longer need that. It's fun, ok, with my SX4 but the clutch is pretty easy to operate in that one. AMC had the hydraulics right on that one. Just the right amount of travel and force, and you have a good feel for when things are happening.

Anyway, 10% would be fine and if a person of light body mass can do it, it can't be a negative for any Stellantis marketing. They need to make a deal with that company to supply clutch parts.
Heck, they don't build their own of a lot of parts on these - partner with a well-known and respected clutch maker.

Yes. For sure. I'm of the opinion I'd rather eat 1500$ out of pocket then wait around for another lane attempt to "fix" it. Warranties are smoke and mirrors, always have been. It's good to go now.

In this case, with their history with these clutches, and seeing the very sad results some others have experienced - gotta go with your thoughts. I have an automatic, but if I had a stick, I'd be inclined to bring it to you along with a check - and say "go for it". (I'm too old and broken to mess with transfer cases and transmissions these days. Bad enough the projects I've got going already)

Right! It is inconvenient for me, but I'm blessed to have enough know how and tools.

This really is disturbing. I got the manual because a) I enjoy shifting gears and b) I figured it would be less problematic than the auto. Feel somewhat disgusted at this point.
Although, while my stock clutch is functioning ok at present, but who knows what tomorrow will bring.
