The clutch recall was recalled?

Got my 23 JLR about 2 weeks before they stopped releasing them late 22. It was my understanding that it happened mainly in high temperature environments with a lot of clutch slipping. Like intense rock climbing or dune running. I stopped starting off in 2nd gear even with my 4.10 axles at the time! Pisses people off behind me when I pause to shift to 2nd at 10mph.

I have 4.10s and I rarely use 1st in 4L (I'm assuming you're in 4L when shifting to 2nd at 10 mph). I have an early JTR (bought in 7/19) and I've had all the recalls done. Even on the trails, I've NEVER had the overheat warning. From my understanding, if there is no weight of any kind on the clutch pedal, there's no friction on the pressure plate. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong. I really don't even use it that often on the trail. I usually stay in 2nd through 4th (4L, of course).

Jeep may have a fix forthcoming. My neighbor just took delivery of a 6-speed JLU that she'd been waiting 7 mos. for, so fingers crossed.?

My new ordered 2023 Mojave showed up yesterday. My son says it feels like a clutch should. My foot is in a cast so I can't drive it, but I trust his opinion. He drives a 2021, and says it is a dramatic difference with the new factory clutch.

There are a few people on the Facebook group who have said the same thing after getting the recall performed. I wonder what's changed.

I'm dropping my 21 Overland off tomorrow night for the recall work. And I'm taking my wife tonight after work to teach her to drive manual.

I'll update if there is a huge difference in clutch feel for me when I get it back.

I think the time estimate on the "fix" will be telling. Has anyone asked? Sounds like it's more than software this time.

From what I understand, it's a software update that limits torque output when the clutch temp hits a certain level, to prevent it from getting too hot and detonating the plate. The other part is they're replacing the clutch assembly, I'm guessing as a precaution due to previous wear from possible previous overheating.

But I'll try to get a solid answer tonight.

I picked it up on Friday night, but wasn't able to get a solid answer. They were getting ready to close up shop for the weekend and I just wanted to get my truck before they closed.

The pedal feel is definitely improved, it has a lot more spring to it, and you can almost feel the engagement point now. It's definitely better than the mush it was.

Did you ask for the recall to be fixed or did you get a letter saying the parts are in? I only ask because I have a 2020 That I bought in July of 2019, so I should be pretty early on the list if they're going by purchase date.

I took mine in 2 weeks ago to get the inspection stickers replaced after I got a new windshield and the service adviser told me that he ordered the parts for the recall while I was there, without me even mentioning it.

So it may be worth giving your dealer a call just to ask.

Thanks for following up with this and reporting back. I tried calling my local dealership and since all of the mgrs in the service dept were tied up, the receptionist took my info and the essence of my question and promised they would call back...... they didn't. I don't think they want to.

But, I am glad that you are feeling more pedal and better engagement. Good luck with it.
