More fiddle faddle updates on the truck. I’ve applied an appliqué to the door frames to “stretch” the window frame appearance. I’ve done this to the last three pickups I’ve owned. I like the look of it.

This past holiday season I was lucky enough to score a nice deal on a new set of wheels. The Method 703’s in bronze compliment the black and white theme of the truck. I’ve had them on for about 4 months now and still not sold on the offset. They make the truck width a bit wider and I can definitely feel it in the steering. The upside is they will go well with the new tires incoming soon. Since this truck will get retired from service soon and become a toy, I decided to finally go for the 37’s I’ve been wanting. The new tires will go well with the wheels.

Over the past month I’ve been slowly accruing major service parts for the truck. Most of the parts are for suspension and steering due to mileage(122k). I still haven’t decided which ball joints to buy. I like the Terflex units and their price isn’t soo bad. I have new tie rod ends that are stock. I just replaced the shitty Fox MOPAR lift shocks with some Bilsteins. The Bilsteins are remote reservoir and are light years ahead in performance over those shitty Fox shocks.

Anyone have any recommendations on aftermarket balljoints?

I love the way that looks, do you mind sending me the link to the appliqué you used?

Oh boy, here we go…

I will preface this with the fact that I LOVE this truck. It will need to be pried from my cold, dead hands when I’m done with this world.

Now, to the meat of this post.

I’ve got some shitty CEL’s to deal with. It appears my swirl valves are blocked with soot buildup and a few of my glow plugs are failing. I’ve actually known about it for awhile because I’ve been watching my fuel economy slowly decline. I’ve also had the regen cycle happening at least once a month now. So, the cure to all my ails requires a parts canon.

Parts list:
•Intake Manifold(comes with gaskets
•EGR Cooler Assembly
•Associated EGR Gaskets
•Glow Plugs
•Drive Belt
•Coolant
•Fuel Rail Fuel Lines
•Turbo Water Cooling Line
•PCV Assembly
•Specialty Torx Wrench set for Fuel Rail
•Specialty Fuel Rail 19mm socket
•Third Brake Light Assembly

Let’s all sacrifice a 10mm socket to the God of Gears that all goes well and nothing else breaks along the way…

Jeep Gladiator The JT TRPR IMG_2038

My Jeep in The City. It’s a work truck(best work truck I e ever had) that doubles as my adventure mobile.

I also forgot to update that I finally put 37’s on it after someone’s failed attempt to slash my tires. I figured it was a good time to upgrade. Next year in January I will have 4.56 gears installed to regain my fuel economy and drive ability. It’s sluggish and less responsive with 37’s. Couple that with the performance loss of the intake manifold and EGR cooler issues just turns it into an absolute dog…

While I’ve been waiting for the last bits and bobs to arrive for the big tear down and repair of the ecodiesel, I decided to finally finish another project that I’ve been procrastinating on.

the Cascadia 4x4 VSS 2.0 hood solar kit is pretty nifty.

I’ve been on a tear lately with projects as I build up to doing the big job of r&r’ing the intake manifold and the EGR cooler.

Today I finished up the Fender chop mod. It’s a plainly simple job, accomplished with simple tools. If I had properly prepared, it would have taken me only about two hours to complete the front and rear flare mods. But, me, being the king or persistently procrastinating properly being repaired with all provisions to complete the task, I waited on clips to be delivered overnight…

Enjoy, or not, I’m not a person to tell people what to do, man.

In the past few months I ended up buying the Dynatrac Ultimate Balljoints, Steer Smarts Yeti XD Tie rod/endsand steering components. Also, I installed the PowerStop Evo brake rotors and pad kit from Northridge 4x4. With 37’s on it I decided the Apex Steering cooler with boost valve was a smart choice. That’s now waiting its turn on the shelf. Between the CJ-7 and the JT, my shelves are a bit overflowing with unfinished projects.

I’ve had the passenger fender liner off for a few years after I ran my battery extension to the bed for the battery inverter and accessory switch panel. I just didn’t feel like reinstalling it I guess. After doing the fender chop, it was really apparent that I needed fender liners. I found CavFab in Georgia had a bolt in/no drill fender liner that made it the obvious choice for me. Then I was subjected to their targeted social media ads and I found they were developing a frame mounted slider for the JT. Stoked! Ordered those bad boys as well.

Today was the day the sliders arrived in full. Three packages over two days really triggered my logistical brain. I recorded another video if y’all wanna watch it.

The Jeep has really started to gel as far as an overall build. I’m looking forward to re gearing it next month to compensate for the 37’s. It will be towing the CJ-7 to Moab next year for EJS. Hope to run into a few of you folks while I’m there.
