The new Rubicon with factory installed winch

The Capability Package gets you a winch on a Rubicon or Rubicon X.

I don't see any Capability Package for the Rubicon X, only the Rubicon. Which would make sense to a certain degree, since the X already comes with a steel bumper. The only thing you would need on the X is the winch itself, not the package. But I don't see the winch listed separately.

Edit: I stand corrected. I now see the winch listed separately in the Powertrain section under a listing of "Additional Mechanical Features" for $1,995.

For $2K the factory option 8K lb winch still isn't worth it. Any winch is always better than no winch at all but there's far better and higher uses of funds with a hedge for stronger pulls. Add to it the short drum design that limits the length of line you can carry/deploy and its even less appealing. The only saving grace is it is installed for you on a suitable plate. Dunno if the factory b2b warranty covers though.

You could do a HF Apex 12K winch, a mounting plate and a whole crate of pricey recovery gear from Factor55 for less than the OEM Warn 8K and still have enough left for a few rounds of beers after the trail.

I get that but considering it's an inferior product for a lot more money, the finance cost and ease of install rationale isn't exactly apples to apples. Now, had the OEM option been more reasonably priced or better, the 10k Zeon I'd be scratching my head over it too.

All good.

The Warn 8K. Not in build quality, mind you but rather the weight ratings on the winch (8k vs 12k) and the shorter drum that allows for less line and thus shorter pulls. On a straight pull in most cases you won't run out of line but if you double up to increase pulling power to make up for the deficit, you've got significantly less line to work with.
