Is it time to upgrade your headlights?

These have been out for awhile, but we hadn't yet done a video about them. @Tech Tim finally got a chance to do a full review and how-to install on them.

Check out the video here:

The Elite Max headlights are the best I have ever owned. Same goes for the Elite fogs. My only complaint is that it's so easy to program them from the drivers seat that I can't seem to decide on how I want the DRL's to look.

I have these, I like them, but the light cut off is not a complete strait line, its stepped for both headlights. Up close its fine but as a distance you can really tell. .
hare's both headlights at distance ..................../'''''''''''''''''''''''''''''' ..................../'''''''''''''''''''''''''''''' so it's always on my mind, it's seems off especially on the left side since both beam patterns are the same if once side was like this ''''''''''''''''''''''''''\........................ I wouldn't give it another thought.

I’ve been in a Wrangler that had them. They cost my friend a lot of $$$$! I have the reflective headlights, that I’ve added a pair of $200 MORIMOTO TWO STROKE 4.0 H13 LED bulbs, that I installed and aimed properly, that have turned night into day way better than I expected. Sure they don’t change color or work as turn signals, but I’m very satisfied. The same I had in my previous three truck going back to 2011, they were of course 1.0, 2.0, 3.0 gen. With no dim out or failing. The best feature is how the fan blows forward, threw the fixture towards the lens of the entire headlight, that prevents snow and ice buildup.

Unless, I am misunderstanding.........is this not by design? That step down is to keep from blinding oncoming drivers I would assume.

This isn't the high low cut off, this is standard illumination. My Toyota corolla has a better cutoff, the stock headlights have a better cutoff. The cheap Chinese piece of crap headlights that I had previously had a better cut off. just sayin.

I’m sure they all had a better appearing cutoff from behind the wheel, but I bet it was the opposite for drivers coming toward you. Corolla lights are blinding from head on at any height. Lol

Just got the Elite version (non Max) for my sons JL Sahara which unlike my JT, didn't come with the LED lighting group stock.

He wanted to keep more of a closer to OEM look as possible considering the harness issues with direct OEM model. therefore went with the elite versus the elite max. (Besides not sure if he needed the extra features anyway). Excited to get them installed for him this weekend.

Yeah, I see your point. I would be lying if I said I didn't notice it. I guess I was just used to it from other vehicles I have owned and it wasn't a big deal. From behind the wheel, it's a valid criticism I suppose.

I guess my thinking has always been that the oncoming drivers aren't seeing what you are seeing and I'd rather not blind every person that comes along like a lot of folks. I guess I'm old, lol. Common courtesy is probably pretty low on the list of concerns these days. I'm not insinuating you are this way, just that it affected my thoughts on it .

Unfortunately, I have not been impressed with the build quality / QC of the DD Elite Max headlights, nor their RMA process. I ordered a set in March, and one of the lights was pointing at the moon from the factory and could not be adjusted even remotely closely to the correct angle -- I'm talking it was a foot high from 10' away. I submitted an RMA, and it took a couple months to get the headlight replaced. I finally got that resolved around late October. Within a couple weeks of getting that sorted, the other headlight started intermittently going out, and eventually quit working entirely, I had to send that one in for the RMA months ago, and still haven't received a replacement. My truck was down for about two months, and eventually I had to buy a different set of cheapo 7" headlights and an adapter bracket just so I could drive it while I wait for their RMA (I boneheadedly disposed of my OEM halogen lights, never expecting this to be such an issue). It's been nearly an entire year since paying nearly a thousand dollars for these headlights that I've had to pull my grille apart a half dozen times for and literally worked correctly for a week or two.

Also to note the cutoff on these is so stark that I think it creates a strobing effect to approaching drivers that is very annoying for them. Even when properly adjusted, approaching drivers frequently flash their high beams at me with the DD Elite max lights installed. I haven't had this occur a single time with my amazon specials I have installed now -- which is amusing because one of the main complaints of the non-DOT certified cheapo lights is poor cutoff that can be blinding for approaching drivers. Apparently the DDs are much worse.

Very poor experience overall. I should've just gone for the OEM LEDs instead.

Definitely agree, these are fantastic headlights. Highly recommend them. Only downside is the adjustment of them requires removing them, but once you’re done they really don’t need to be readjusted. So it’s a one-time pain that really isn’t a dealbreaker for the quality you get.
