When you disconnect the power to the JL doors, they can open without triggering auto park. I haven't had it auto park while in 4hi or 4lo. I'm not sure whether or not I ever came up off of my seat to get a look at things while moving to trigger it though.

Congrats on your new ride! If you don't mind me asking, how much did it cost to deliver it? $1000? My 1 way ticket will only cost $100, then the gas driving back to Detroit. I enjoy driving, so I the time I spend driving isn't 'wasted' as far as I'm concerned. But, if the cost of shipping is close to my flight + gas, I might arrange shipment.
$650

The flight was going to be about $250 for me - but it would be an entire day and a half of travel for me. Losing 2 days of work, 1 day of work even, is a loss of more than $650 to me... Plus it was delivered over night. So yea, good value.

First i've heard of "steering stabilizer"--is that something you take off when offroading?
Nevermind--got the answer here:
Hi, has anyone put this Falcon Nexus 2.2 steering stablizer on there Gladiator (will it work on the gladiator)? If so does it help the wandering steering?

That's not too bad! I'm a little further, so it might be $750 ... still worth considering if I'm just too swamped at work when I can finally take delivery.

Here is a new one. Finally got the mirror tap hardwired to a radar detector and found my blendmount won’t fit the fat plastic neck correctly on the rear view mirror. You can’t even adjust your rear view mirror, just too tight and no room. Plus the plastic neck is too fat. Took the blendmount off and looked on their website to find out this type mirror is incompatible with any blendmount products. Fits fine on my Jeep JK, Dodge Challenger and Dodge Ram, but not the new $60k 2020 Gladiator Rubicon.

Nice job Jeep engineering changing it to a cheap big fat plastic neck with no room, instead of the traditional metal neck mirror. Guess I’ll have to go old school with suction cups on the windshield now, just to fall off. Not happy!

I've had my Overland for 10 days now, the first few days i was a little disappointed with the handling on the hwy especially when i was driving in a cross wind, but i've since lowered the PSI to 37 from 42 and it is much better IMO. My bluetooth speaker won't connect to anything so dealer is getting me a new one. aside from that i love it! Stereo is ok, will look at upgrades soon though. I was actually quite impressed with how quiet it was, i'm coming from a GMC Denali 1500 so was expecting a huge difference but it is quite manageable. I live in Saskatchewan so i am looking at mods to improve the heat retention in the winter.

I imagine disconnecting the doors probably turns it off... maybe...
It does. But Im pretty sure there is a sensor in the seat that will still trigger the autopark if it doesn’t recognize an ass on it. These new vehicles are too damn smart..

A fellow Saskatchewaner! Congrats on the Overland. I just picked up my Rubicon from Indian Head Chrysler last Friday.

Just got my LE,
IMG_20190619_100225911_HDR.jpg
installed 37" tires wit 2" lift and the Teraflex Falcon Nexus 2.2 steering stabilizer. Drives like a dream!
What did the dealer charge for the lift kit and for the steering dampener?

Small complaint (I like having these kind!) but when you have the front doors off, the front passenger seat belt (when not buckled) can catch the wind and make an annoying flapping noise! To remedy, I simply buckle the front passenger seat belt ;) The rear seat belts have a little clip to keep them from flapping around but nothing like that for the fronts.

Here's a few of my thoughts...keep in mind, I'm a first-time Jeep owner so a few of these things were just unknown/unexpected. NONE of these items are a big deal, but I had been writing down a list of quirks that I expected to share on a thread popping up like this!
  • No power seats (I know, I know ;)) >>> I understand why, I just assumed they were available but having never really been in a Jeep before, I didn't know they weren't standard! I actually like that they're manual now that I've had a chance to get comfortable in it.
  • Satellite connectivity issues >>> I've had XM/Sirius radio in 3 vehicles now and for whatever reason, if I'm driving in an area of trees/foliage/hills, the stations cut out (I'm guessing it's due to there not being a 'sharkfin' style antenna that both of my other vehicles had). My other cars had coverage 99.9% of the time on all of these same roads I'm experiencing these new cut-outs and I'd say I have a few quick disruptions every time I drive to/from work (which is a 12-minute commute) to the point where I've said "WTF is going on with this connection?"
  • ESS is annoying >>> I attempt to make the ESS disable button the second button I push right after "Push to Start" - If I had the option, I'd purchase some aftermarket system that bypasses this button because it's definitely not something I've ever wanted/asked for.
  • The antenna seems like a very cheap afterthought
I have the same issue with the Sirius radio, very annoying. There must be a fix Jeep can come up with. Obviously an inferior antenna situation.

Is this a safety issue on long drives (high speed, remote freeway)?

Or something you get used to, and mitigate sufficiently with lower air pressure?
Mine is a safety issue, many comments on here and online about unsafe steering.

Im sure that I’m not the only person who dislikes a few things about my new Gladiator and heres my list so far. Overall I’m really liking it but there are things I wish were different about it, how about you?

#1. Its flighty at 55 mph and up. Much more so than my JKUR on 35’s. I dropped psi to 35 then 32 but its still the same, just drifts alot and requires constant focus to keep in the lane. New 35” Goodyear Duratracs on AEV wheels made no difference either.

#2. No tow mode or brake controller from the factory. Im sorry but both of these should be standard for a 60k truck that claims best in class towing. Tow mode really helps in my other vehicles when going downhill to keep from riding the brakes.

#3. Spongy ride. Overall it rides good, but its spongy in a way I cannot explain other than its what I would expect it to feel like if the frame were flexing although Im sure its not the case. I’m hoping an aftermarket 2.5” lift will help this but I also know it might just take some getting used to.

#4. No switch in the bed for the bed lights. Its annoying to have to go to the cab to turn them on when needed.

#5. Manual sliding back glass. This should be standard at this trim level, I could see it being manual in a sport but at 60k entry fee it sucks to have to lay the seat back to reach the back glass. And I’m 6’5”, you shorties will have to get out to open/close it.

#6. Side mirrors could stand to be a bit bigger, the visibility is not optimal but they are ok. Towing with them pretty much sucks.

#7. The 8.4 radio is glitchy. It has shut down and rebooted itself 3x in 500 miles. It will be going in for service next time it happens.

#8. I wish cooled seats were an option as I sit here in the carpool lane to pick up kids with the freedom panels and doors off. Leather feels like vinyl when you’re stuck to it. I absolutely love them in my F150 and prefer to use them with the windows down vs having the AC on.

Thats it, for now at least..
YES!
1!!

I could overlook ALL of the others if the steering was safe!!

1. The price
2. The want to upgrade/customize it.
