Yeah, some bugs do turn into a paste on the windshield - but some do wash off. Don't no which until you hit the wash lever.
Our bugs are full of human blood or corn syrup - both are very sticky...........

You will likely never see that - they have to meet CAFE numbers and certain other restrictions somehow.
There's a city in MN that can ticket people for idling too long at a stop. And that's spreading around the country.
Odd that it's causing such frustration! Especially when it doesn't make the thing any less powerful or any slower.
I simply use my FOOT to control it and it only stops when I want it to, doesn't stop when I don't want it to. Light foot the brakes.
It just wears a bunch of shit out faster though. I disable mine. Disabled it in my wife's Rav4 as well. I will not pay a ticket for it because who knows why its not working.

What does is wear out faster?
Nothing.
Proven over decades of use in other vehicles, including hybrids.
Wear happens on cold starts.

As far as "paying a ticket" - I guess you missed the point - it's not that you must have working ESS, it's that you must shut down under certain conditions and not let it idle for periods over xx amount of time. ESS has nothing to do with it, other than making it easier to be compliant. You still are supposed to shut it off.

I am thankful not to live in Minnesota I guess.
I googled the downside
The main disadvantages of start-stop technology are increased wear and tear on the battery, starter, and alternator, potentially leading to higher maintenance costs and frequent replacement of these components. Users may also experience discomfort or disruption due to engine noise and vibrations during shutdowns and startups, along with a perceived delay in vehicle response. Additionally, there's the potential for engine oil contamination from frequent restarting, though modern systems are designed to mitigate these issues

HAHAHA - google? Yeah, ok. They get their info from forum posts, youtube and other crap.
Sorry, pretty much everything google told you has been debunked here and elsewhere. These are MADE for that, from the ground up. The whole engine redesign was to handle it. And again - this goes back decades, and you don't see any increased issues anywhere where this has been used for since longer than Jeep has been shutting engines down.
Google - info from uninformed, non-experts, forum hate posts, speculation, auto repair places looking for business.

I allow ESS to function. It will start working from 1.25 miles away from home. I also send in oil samples - NO fuel contamination ever in my samples.
The restarts are HOT, meaning it's very different, check the starter draw o a hot ESS restart. Almost nothing. No increased wear on an alternator - if you wanted to go there, I'd counter that almost any electric item anyone adds to a Jeep will cause MORE wear to the batteries and alternator than ESS does. People here drain their batteries down a whole lot more than a really fast ESS restart. The PCM also tracks where things are when it shuts down, so it's far more efficient at an ESS restart than a cold start. People who use their Jeep for commuting to and from work are actually causing more wear to their entire Jeep than I do allowing ESS to operate.

We also have a tech member here who will tell you - no problem with the starters. (matching my posts from engineers talking about these starters)

ok, I have read people that believe both sides. I just hate my 1.5 gallons toilet so much, I disabled my ESS because Merica. Since it serves no real purpose for me, I prefer disabled. I may or may not have googled how I feel about it and google may or may not have agreed.

I don't like ESS because it hurts my reaction time in the red light drag races. 😆
LOL, there's another reason. Im still in my break in period but can't wait to race this box.

I bought these and put them on. It eliminated the key opening issue. It still happens occasionally, but it is like once a month instead of three times a day.
