My sister-in-law just got a new Wrangler. She left her Jeep out in a massive rainstorm with the top down and it was completely flooded. She said it took her hours with rags and buckets to get all of the water out. I asked why didn't she just pull the drain plugs, and she looked look at me with the most puzzling look like what the heck am I talking about. She had no idea there were drain plugs in the floor pans! The sad thing is this is not her first Wrangler 😂
LoL… mine have not been installed in the TJ for years! I just found them in the glove box this weekend…

Been there, in Florida too.

A couple of years back a friend of mine and I went on a drive to central AL from N. AL out of no where a flipping rain storm blows up 5 plus hours driving in rain no top or doors. Funny that you posted this thread, earlier his wife and I were laughing about Jeff and me having that happen. Still a good memory of that trip and his short cut back home. He died about a month or so back. 😔 He had became one my few true friends and as his wife said I was best his best friend as I thought of him.

My LJ has had drain plugs out since I bought it but the floor mats for it don't. :headbang:
Sorry about your friend.

I just put my drain plugs back in so I could go offroad through water without it coming in.They are out again for a while.

Same place mine have been since 2005. ;)

Damn I need to dump water out of the floor mats too.

Yup! It’s bound to happen when you use your Jeep for one of it’s intended purposes, “going topless.”
Unfortunately I’ve been there and done that myself. Have I learned my lesson? Not yet! I tell my wife “it’s a Jeep thing.”

at least you have all that useless carpet out already. Makes cleanup way easier. Does the little GMRS radio you have in there still work after the rain?

Without the carpeting, how much louder is driving in the highway?
It’s not terrible and I honestly forgot. Now I’m glad I forgot to put the carpet back in. Really the only issue of running without carpet is how hot the floor gets in the trans tunnel and where the exhaust is under the back driver side. The mat doesn’t insulate as well. I’m debating if I’ll put carpet back in. Planning a trip from PA to Yellowstone so a lot of highway miles coming this July/August.

If you follow the weather in Colorado you know we went from 86 to 30 in a day. We got dumped snow... Well over 12 inches.... Check the snow on my rig just from Saturday morning. This was less than 24 hours...I do not have a rack on my roof. That's just snow.
I have been topless since March. Was eyeballing the weather and it "looked" like the sleet and snow was not due til about 1pm on Friday.
Had graduation for our school at 9am on Friday....
Plan was to go to graduation and then throw the Jeep together after.

Boy was I shocked to walk out in a brand new suit to a Jeep covered in sleet.
Threw freedom panels on and a towel over the seat and drove to school.
Assembled Jeep after graduation and dried it off.

You gotta laugh it off. Favorite is sitting at a light getting stared at as it rains....
Part of the experiences....besides...it's just water.

We got well over 24” up in the high country. Keep in mind, those are 37”s
