The 2.0t in our 2019 JLUR averaged 16-17mpg on 38s both before and after regearing. Our 2022 JLUR with the 3.6L on 39s averages 13-14. My JTM on 37s averages 15. All driven the same. Stock the 2.0t would average right at 20mpg. All driven the same (mildly aggressive). The 2.0t definitely pulled harder, especially at altitude. If you want good fuel economy buy something else. If you want decent economy buy an ecodiesel. If you want decent for a gas powered brick the 2.0t will be better than the 3.6L, but not by a whole lot.

Hi guys, id like to get your thoughts about the 2.0 turbo gas. I am seriously considering trading my JTR for it, I need better gas mileage, and my JTR MT is getting about 12-13 mpg :) in city.,
What size mud tires do you have on yours? My first gladiator had a 3.5inch lift with 35s but still had the original 3.73 gears and I was still getting 15-16mpg in it. If the tires are a different size from stock was the speedometer recalibrated for the new tire size? That would affect everything as well. You previously stated that you have only relied on the computer and haven't done any hand calculations.

I’ve had a 2021 JLUR with the 2.0T. Stock I got around 20mpg, but after I put a lift and 37’s I got about 12mpg. depends on what you want. New Gladiators are heavily discounted right now so I would imagine you won’t get as much for your trade. I don’t think the price gap from your trade would be worth it.

12-13mpg? Damn, I get at least high teens.

If you are this worried about mpg, you should probably stay way from Jeeps (Wrangler/Gladiator) in general. They are not going to be the best if this is a priority.

Personally, if I had to drive a lot every day where mpg was important, I'd get a 2-3yr old Corolla hatch (manual) and keep the Gladiator

I see about 14 (more if all hwy). I have a winch and some armor, 37, 4" lift, and 4.88s. OP what is your setup and what gearing?

What about an 025 JT 4xe? Depending on usage, it may be transformative for mileage.

The weight penalty worth it for dual fuel payoff imho.

Absolutely zero chance I'd go for a 4xe. First, Jeep is not known for their electronic prowess. My pass door thinks it's open when it rains, my garage doors sometimes randomly open and close from the opener in the truck, and the stereo sometimes won't work and often won't connect to bluetooth and android auto. No way I'm going electric powertrain.
Secondly, adding like 800lbs in electric motors is not something I will ever do with an offroad vehicle. Weight is a HUGE penalty offroad. In 10 years if they can get battery tech to a place that makes sense, then maybe. If you are after mileage, get an econobox. It makes no sense to drive a Jeep then try to get 40mpg. Square truck round hole.

I have both a 2023 JT Rubicon (3k miles) and a 2023 Wrangler 4xe High Altitude (13k miles). The Wrangler 4xe HA gets 28mpg on average with the 2L turbo/electric combo, and has amazing torque. I've taken it offroad several times and it does great and pulls 2500 lbs loaded trailer no problem. My only regret is not getting the Wrangler 4xe Rubicon with the swaybar disconnect, but I've bought manual disconnect endlinks that I just need to install. Until then, I just have to be happy 3-wheeling it over the deeper trenches. If the 2023 JT had a 4xe, I would have bought that instead.

I did exactly that. I sold my JTR and bought a 2.0T Wrangler. I tried to like it but it didn't compare to the functionality of the Gladiator for me. It cost me a good bit of money but I am back in a JTR.

we drove one, but you’re going to get the performance, capacity and fuel mileage of a Subaru in the body of a Jeep. Forget towing anything with it that you would’ve towed with the 3.6.

Yeah I’m a stock Mojave, manual, and drive like an old lady. I easily get 18-19mph.
Also, solid username

Valid points re reliability. That’s not really the fault of the tech though is it? More so the fault of the execution.

And for that side at least Jeep do offer a decent warranty these days.

Mass a good point also. By my calcs JT PHEV will end up being a smidge heavier than a fully optioned ICE Grenadier.

And guys tend to do ok with those offroad. That kind of offroad performance will do me. I’d rather a JT anyway.

So JT not the worst platform in terms of starting weight to add the battery and e motors to.

When I look at it imho the physics of battery tech are not likely to change a lot. Merely my pov. Could be wrong.

I’ll take the 40+mpg JT PHEV any day and support Jeep by working with them on the teething troubles

Also importantly, remember gas prices when you vote.

Brother, the idea that any given political outcome in any country, any democratic country, will impact the cost of hydrocarbons in the future - is a fully flawed idea/belief.

And anyone who tries to assert otherwise is lying, ill informed, has a motive for doing so and / or simply should not be speaking about the subject.

What I can assure all of is this; we will pay more for hydrocarbons in the future. Far more. Not less. And so we should.

And please, take a screen shot of this post and let’s go back over it in two, four or six years and see who was right.
I would encourage that.
