thinking about trading my JTR with a Wrangler Unlimited Rubicon 4WD 2.0 turbo gas

Stock (kind of) JTR 3.6L auto. Running the stock Falken A/T's but have RSE steps, Rubicon knockoff steel bumper, 12K Badlands winch, assorted lights and a tonneau cover. Around town averages 18-19 MPG, highway on long trips I can get it to 23 MPG.

The only time I drive aggressively is on Fire calls, all other times I'm driving like grandpa.

Valid points re reliability. That’s not really the fault of the tech though is it? More so the fault of the execution.

And for that side at least Jeep do offer a decent warranty these days.

Mass a good point also. By my calcs JT PHEV will end up being a smidge heavier than a fully optioned ICE Grenadier.

And guys tend to do ok with those offroad. That kind of offroad performance will do me. I’d rather a JT anyway.

So JT not the worst platform in terms of starting weight to add the battery and e motors to.

When I look at it imho the physics of battery tech are not likely to change a lot. Merely my pov. Could be wrong.

I’ll take the 40+mpg JT PHEV any day and support Jeep by working with them on the teething troubles

I've had my '23 Wrangler 4xe for 18 months, 13k miles, have been off-roading, and I also pull a dump trailer regularly with zero issues.

My wife has a 2021 2.0t wrangler and I have a 2022 JTR MT. The wrangler gets significantly better MPGs on trips and is more comfortable pulling light trailer loads. I think this is more a difference of pulling with the auto vs manual though. Also, the 2.0t requires premium. Not really a difference in fuel costs TBO. If you’re looking to save money on fuel you shouldn’t be looking at Wrangler or JT at all.

Not to start a whole new thread here, but I think the 2.0T calls for mid grade, but also says regular is ok. I have a 2019 Wrangler 2-door 2.0T and run regular just fine. I've put in mid grade and premium from time to to see if it runs better or gets better mpg, and any difference is negligible.

You’re correct that the manufacture says mid grade is ok. They recommend premium though. Best to use premium if you’d like it to last past warranty.

Why do you need better mileage?

How much is this going to cost? As said above you can buy a lot of gas for thousands of $ of new car cost.

Why is your JT getting 13mpg? 40" tires lift and steel every thing you can bolt on to it?

Are you going to just turn around and do that to the Wrangler?

Hi guys, id like to get your thoughts about the 2.0 turbo gas. I am seriously considering trading my JTR for it, I need better gas mileage, and my JTR MT is getting about 12-13 mpg in city.,
