Never owned a jeep. Rented a JKU in Hawaii 3 yrs ago and loved it. Problem is, I need a truck. Enter the Gladiator... my next truck! Just rented a Sport S soft top from Avis today. Have it for a week. This thing is GREAT! Took the doors off, folded the roof back and away I went. 100 miles later, pulled back into my driveway. I grinned the whole time! I'm hooked! Don't understand the complaints about the ride. I thought it drove great. I've driven F150s for the past 20 years. I'm 57 years old and feel like a 20 year old driving that Glady. Just waiting for the stingray or granite and trailer brake control to come out. Gonna get a Rubicon. Man, can't wait.

I've seen multiple people getting Gladiators through Avis. How?? I'd like to grab one for a weekend before we commit.

Yes what it lacks in mpg is makes up for in spm smiles per mile!! Enjoy the Sport S while you have it and based on the wait for Granite, you might want to go with Stingray It’s a great color

I don't find mpg is lacking at all. I'm low 20's combined. More than please, especially due to the power it provides.

I have a 15 mile 80mph highway jaunt before I hit town - my LE with 33's gets about 17mpg and when I toss the bed rack and rooftop tent on it goes to 16. I've tried babying it around but getting close to 20 is not possible from what I see. I think its the highway miles at speed that kills me.

My Sport S rental averaged 20.5 mpg during my 100 ride. Drove up a 4000 ft climb and down. Totally happy with that!

16.5 really? I'm aggressive but can barely get lower than 18 when I'm trying. Big tires?

I don't know if you watch Tim Allen's "Last Man Standing", but there is an episode where the actor that plays his dad comments on his grandsons enthusiasm in one episode, he says something along the lines of "oh boy I remember what it was like to be excited about something". Haha, a lot of our posts remind me of this concept.

Anyways, check out the section for pricing and order tracking, there is a thread for each color and a lot of people have orders in and some have received their sting gray. I don't know about trailer brake though. Cheers to that excited feeling! Haha

Day three and almost 200 miles on my Sport S rental now. I know others have logged much higher mileage and reported their experience. I'm just giving my .02 for what it's worth. Maybe I'm delusional with this new Jeep experience or something, but man this Glady is super. Since it's a Sport S it's just got the basics: no tow package, auto, no radio upgrade, soft top, spray-on bedliner. Cruising around with top and doors off, I find the basic Uconnect 5-inch radio adequate. Plenty loud for all conditions I’ve experienced. Though I will be shelling out the $ for the 8.4-inch premium in my Rubi when I order it. Not because it's needed, but because I'm a bit of an audiophile. The noise from this soft top ain’t bad either. I can carry on a conversation just fine at 65mph with it open. If I didn’t think the soft top was kind of ugly, I would be happy with it. Wife says she prefers it rather than the hard top I’ll be getting because it always there and ready for action. Gotta muscle the four-wheel drive selector a bit, but feels tight. Driving is an absolute pleasure. Plenty of power for my needs, though I wish I could test the towing. I pull an 18’ tandem axle trailer with a RZR, quad and dirt bike to the desert a few times a year. Total load is about 4000lbs. Watching the TFLTruck guys, I’m thinking I should be fine with the Rubi.
