Hi Everyone!
1st Time Gladiator owner here.
I often haul paddle boards around and am considering what rack system to add to my truck.
I decided against roof cross bars as it seems as though there is some concert about damage to the panels (because of high speed wind force).
So, I've narrowed it down to the Thule Xsporter Pro or the Yakima Overhaul HD. They both seem like solid options, but does anyone have ownership experience with either of them? Hoping you can offer reasons why you like one over the other.
Thanks!

I had the Yakima Overhaul and used it on 3 different trucks. Very nice rack and looks really good especially with the horizontal bars you can get for it. Had a couple seized bolts over the years but not a big deal. Would buy it again if I needed a bed rack.

I can offer no value to the actual question because I am also considering rack options so I don’t have experience to share.
I’m really just replying to compliment you on the graphics package and the killer shine & detail work on your JT. Looks amazing!

Yakima and Thule are truly great options, either way that you go. Yakima is a more versatile option, offering a number of accessories that you can add to the rack. In the event that you ever plan to upgrade your bed to include a tonneau cover, it's compatible with Retrax and Pace Edwards T slot tonneau covers. All you'll need is the adapter kit to reinstall your rack.

If you prefer a more simple design, the Thule Xsporter Pro Truck Rack will give you just that. This rack works with a number of accessories, giving you full bed access and support for hauling needs. It's available in a silver or black finish.

If you have any questions on fitment, availability, ship times, or would like a pricing quote, please PM me or email me at [email protected].

I recommend the Yakima Overhaul HD rack. It has a ton of versatility including adjustable rack height, t slots on the top/bottom of the hd bars, side rails, and is compatible with a multitude of Yakima accessories. The biggest selling point for me was tonneau compatibility, weight and construction. This thing is beefy but light. 800lbs static load rating. Great for RTT’s, awnings etc.

I’ve now run both of these racks on my gladiator- xsporter pro and overhaul hd. They’re very different racks and each have an advantage. If you plan to put a rack on and leave it as is, get the Yakima (such as full time RTT). The mounting is cleaner, the weight limits are better and the overall use for an “overland” style setup is superior. If you intend to adjust the height with any regularity, get the Thule. The Yakima must have all the crossbar bolts loosened and adjusted with any height change. It takes time and precision to change the height. The Thule simply goes up and down in place (assuming nothing is connecting the front bar to the rear, like a bike rack or RTT) with no fuss. The Thule style is great for multi-use and the Yakima is great for a designated purpose. Build quality is equivalent. The ease of removal of the Yakima is also much better if you only plan to put it on seasonally. For my needs, I prefer the Thule and find the height adjustment sufficient to clear just about any large object in the bed (like a motorcycle or mattress) with the bars in place. If you have the cargo rails in the gladiator, Thule Xk4 and Xk4b both work to mount the xsporter pro (the mopar rails are compatible with most Tacoma-intended mounts). One consideration is that the Yakima bars can mount noticeably lower than the Thule on a gladiator because of the shallow bed and how the Thule bars adjust vertically. If you’re looking for a very low setting (for ease of accessing bike trays, etc) the Yakima is a better fit in this case.
