Whatever tires the person answering has will be the best tire to use. So if you get 10 answers from 10 different people, those 10 tires will be the best...........
It's almost always an answer that matches the tire that's most popular with jeep people because of the name, the looks, or they are good on the trail, they look great, etc.

I chose General A/TX after hours of research, and reviews stating they were better than the tires that were recommended here - and that's because the tires recommended here are based on personal bias more than research, or what a person has had good luck with.

What's the best spark plug for the trail or the best oil or the best bed cover.....

I've actually been recommending the general grabber ATX here. Not only did the research say they were great but anecdotally they're great too!

You did your homework.
I compared literally for several evenings, spent hours (big investment, wanted to do it one time) and found zero complaints.

good links. Most everyone is running the other kenda tread patterns, im curious about the at2 specifically
It’s interesting that choosing Max Tow in the Jeep.com configuration replaces the H/T tires with the A/T tires.

I purchased the Falken tires for my 93 Jeep Wrangler that are great truck tires. I never imagined I'd ever had traction in wet weather as these things give me. Definitely the best tires I've had on my truck. I can say that this tire doesn’t wear easily even if I drive it on slippery, icy, and rocky roads. Also, it has minimal noise and the tires are holding up well. The performance is solid I must say.

33” Cooper AT3’s for towing, but I have 5.13 gears. Then 37” Yokohama Geolander MY G003’s for wheeling on some fun trails.

I'm planning the General Grabber ATx also. Based on everything from reviews here (less reliable because people are invested a/k/a confirmation bias) to test results on TireRack.com. This seems to be the way to go if you want a tire that is a decent all-arounder.

With that said, the OP mentioned that his only real off roading was going to be on the sand. For that purpose, he may be better off with more of a street tire. There's no sense in giving up the fuel economy, ride, and quietness if you don't actually need a more aggressive tread.

As far as ply ratings and towing YES, you are overthinking it. A lot.

Air holds the weight up, not the sidewalls. Air up the tires appropriately and you are good to go. Heat is the enemy of tires, particularly when towing. The heat is caused by the carcass flexing as it contacts the road and then relaxing when it comes off the road. Less flex means less heat. More air means less flex.

We had freezing drizzle Friday - but with the snow predicted, and wind for Saturday my wife decided we'd go to Church Friday - freezing drizzle and all. No issues.

Hahahaha man, story of my life sometimes!

i landed in 255/75/17Bridgestone Dueler AT tires with a 115T load index. I get 20-22mpg daily driving and have no issues towing with them.
