Good Morning!
I’ve been looking around for some lockable underseat storage for the 24. I’ve been all over the internet and I’ve searched this forum and I found discussions that were 2 years old.

The Mopar box - $1200 - is just an over-priced piece of plastic. Nicely designed, but lacking in space compared to the Diabolical.
I really like (or so I think) the Diabolical box - $900 - but then again, I probably wouldn’t have $900 worth of gear to store in it, so what’s the point?
The Tuffy (fullsize box) - $600- I HATE the fact the lid isn’t split into two sections. You have to have both seats up to open the box. Tuffy does make a split-lid version for all the other trucks (almost) except the Gladiator. Or am I missing the gladiator version?
I don’t like the 813 box - I don’t like how it locks to the seat /locks the seat down.

I got to thinking…. I wouldn’t be storing any guns in it. I’m storing the usual….. jumper cables, lots of ratchet straps, spare towing equipment, boat straps, safety gear, spare receiver/ball, yadda yadda yadda

Do I really need a lockable box? I’m the type of person who locks everything (I don’t trust even living in the rurals - I’ve had past trucks broken into while sitting in my driveway). However….. If a criminal were to look in there now, I’d rather him/her take whatever they need/want (easily) ……. VERSUS…. They see a locked box and automatically need to bust it open, trash the box, trash my interior, and discover there’s nothing in it they want anyway. ?‍♀. Or…. they’ll walk away because its not a ‘quick grab’.

So, then…..I was thinking about the ‘mini’ tuffy box for those little things. I’m not even sure what I’d put in it…….

What’s your thoughts?
If you have a Diabolical, what’s your feedback? How long have you had it?

I use the factory plastic open top piece , and don’t really see the need to spend money on something that works already ok . All my recovery stuff, air hose , camp ax , large camp knife, first aid kit , various ratchet and can lock straps, shovel, all fit under the seat and behind the seat backs. There is so much we can spend money on with these things, that a plan is a good thing. I like the 813 if you are putting an air compressor under the seat and perhaps an aux. battery. If they already broke into or stole your truck the lock box is not much of a deterrent. If you are leaving your truck parked topless and doors off perhaps a locked box is a good idea.
There all that and it is still up to you bud!…..Jack

And I thought the locable boxes under the seats are factory standard.

For me nice to have but never used them.

I thought about a lockable solution. For a couple of hours maybe and then realized it would be a complete waste of money. For me anyway. Like you said, a bunch of stuff like the winch strap, set of jumper cables, etc. Seemed like just a way to throw away money. I mean hell, if they’ve accessed the cab I seriously doubt they’re after a few cheap bits and pieces in the box.

The more I think about it….I’ll probably just bypass it for now anyway.

The previous truck I had (that they broke into 15 years ago)….was accidentally unlocked overnight. They stole an airsoft gun and ditched it a couple doors down the road (in our neighbors yard). They probably thought it was a real AR15. ? ?

I think…if we ever go anywhere and park it long term, I’d leave the doors on. That’ll be much much harder for them to get to the stuff under the seat. ☺

Not so much anymore…. To get the lockable underseat storage, you have to Opt for the Cargo & Rail system.

I'll have a factory locking box for sale shortly, with my keyed locks already removed, and a pair of unkeyed OEM cylinders included ready to match your key

Can I ask why you are taking it out?

Sure - building a custom rear seat delete platform and it's just not compatible with the shapes of the stuff I need to store under it. Telescope and 2 crates of scope gear mainly

813 Fabrication has another option that is less expensive then the diabolical but may not be as secure.
813 Fab

We inevitably end up somewhere where we have a valuable we want to give a little more security to and I lean toward the piece of mind something like this provides. Nothing will stop someone with enough determination and time but this keeps mostly honest folks honest!

Bay Area, CA. I figured I'll have to ship. Not trying to sidestep forum rules - I'll make a forum for-sale post soon with all the details. (just waiting for the rekey kit to arrive)

I didn’t like the full size Tuffy either due to no split. I bought the smaller one that goes under the Driver side rear seat. It serves my purpose (holds a full size 1911 plus spare mags). The mounting bolts aren’t accessible when it’s locked. I also discovered that my rear seat backs are lockable with the fob key. Not that it’s Fort Knox but it’s helpful.
