For $200 you can do it with a remote. A guy I follow on IG uses this and a lot of other expensive stuff for super clean oil changes in his mobile business.

I personally just wear nitrile gloves when changing oil and keep my arm out the way, and then I just throw the gloves out when I'm done.
That is slick, but if you are overfilling oil that often you need a remote vacuum to allow controlled drains you might rethink your career choice. :) I am probably missing out on a few other application for the product but controlled oil drain is the first to come to mind.

Lol. He doesn't overfill, he just uses it for controlled drains, and doing it solo as a business it's handy.

The best use cases I have seen in his videos is draining oil in poorly designed vehicles where its gonna run all over other parts, so he'll turn vac on, get plug out, install a valve or hose, or get a funnel set up to guide it, then use the keyfob to turn off vacuum and let oil run out without getting all over the car or customers driveway.

It's a toy for most people, but in a professional mobile oil change business I could see merit.

A simple way to drain oil in a controlled manner is to use a shop vac stuffed into the oil fill port.

You are basically creating a oil Bong, when you remove the drain plug the oil will stay in the pan gurgling, you remove the shop vac for a second and oil drains out add it back oil stops draining.

Doing this with a buddy makes it very easy.
A lot of extra work for a very simple job - especially if you use one of those valves. By the time I got setup with a shop vac, up and down and all - I'd have most of it in a pan. It's really not a messy job just with a pan and a wrench. I bet I've done hundreds if not thousands of oil changes in 55 years - simple works fine.
(you also have to have a strong vacuum as you are also pulling air back through the PCV system)

I don't really know why it's got to be so complex...........

Oil level is not an exact level. Hills, side loads, lots of things can change the level a little. I put in 5 and 1/2 quarts with no issues. .

Along the lines of this subject: Check your oil jug before you leave the store. Got one this morning that showed 4.5 quarts instead of 5. Seal was not cracked. Only reason I checked was because it “sloshed” weird when I pulled it off the counter.

To OP: you’re good. Your engine probably won’t explode but if it does take it in and get a new one. The oil will be gone if it does so they can’t prove you overfilled. :like:

It is pretty precise as books for decades have preached check fluids with the vehicle level. So yeah, it is.

Was hoping this thread had run its course, but I guess it was resurrected for some reason.

I wrote up a detailed article with photos, and explanations on how and why 6 quarts is a non-issue several months ago. And - we even heard in that thread how these are made to operate with a tolerance of plus/minus.

In short - people are still getting worked up over being a bit full or a bit low.
Don't worry about it. If it was an issue, tens of thousands of these engines would have blown back in 2019 when dealers first changed oil on a 5 quart PUG in the Gladiator and put in 6 quarts out of habit.........
