They have done similar in other states, and there will be more, but it doesn't get much media attention unless there is a recent incident. It is a felony crime in Nevada to injure a pet.

I run a tether on the top roll bars that acts like. Zip line. My dog can go side to side by can't get out

A harness and leash lock that plugs into seatbelt and some trail doors for you both as well. A side hit from another vehicle will hurt you and your dog. Trail doors (certain kinds and they are more expensive and worth it) are a minimum to keep you safe. If you have to have no doors, i know it doesn’t look as good, but i leave rear doors on and seatbelt lock with harness for my dog and seatbelts for kids.

I love having a dog up front with me but i always put them in the back with a leash lock and harness. Dogs in the back center seat with doors is safer for the dog in every way. You can love on them when you get to where you are going.
