I have a small 5x8 enclosed trailer and the driver side blind spot monitor is constantly picking up the trailer. Anyone else having this problem? Right side is fine.

I use the Camco 25664 Flat Tow-N-See Mirror from amazon on my JKU. It is 10 dollars right now on sale. there is also a passenger convex one
They work pretty good. Hopefully someone will come out with extended mirrors for the truck.
NICE 82nd Grunt profile shot...

I am fine with the mirrors. What I am not fine with is the fact that since I am towing a trailer the radar thinks that there is always something in my blind spot. I did read the manual and neither the blind spot monitoring section or towing section mention that a trailer will disturb the system....But mine does and it is about to drive me crazy. Which since I am already so close to crazy it is a very short trip.

Take it back to the dealer and have them re-calibrated.

I pull a ex military m101a2 trailer, I did a Alabama to Tampa trip i did not have issue with my trip, I did have a issue with a narrow road and trees, when I stopped and re started the truck it cleared up. The same with my kayak no issues.

This was a problem with my Toyota with both a 18’ open car hauler and a 16’ enclosed trailer. The sensor picks up an object in the space it senses. I leave it on and use the other side as a warning or just turn it off.

For the Gladiator I had the same problem. If you adjust the sensors, move them, they won’t work well without the trailer. I just turn mine off and not worry about it. The rear safety breaking thing is the problem. Couldn’t hook up the enclosed trailer with it on. Wouldn’t let me get close enough. Funny trying to hook the trailer up until I figured that out.

Not sure if this helps but i’ve found it to be a normal thing across different vehicles.

I wanted to update this problem. I pulled the trailer all the way to Destin FL and back and the problem never arose again. The first two times I pulled the trailer the alarm was on constantly so it doesn’t make sense but I’m not complaining.

Resurrecting this thread for a related question.

Does the BSM feature work to also detect cars in the lane next to the trailer, as opposed to just in the tow vehicle's blind spot?

Said another way... when towing, does the area that the BSM system "monitors" increase to account for the trailer?
