I installed mopar controller, no issues installing and I'm happy with its performance. WDH I have equalizer e2, which is 2 friction points which I've also been happy with for 7 years now (used on previous vehicle).

I don't think you'll gave any issues on the campers you're looking at. Have a 17ft trailer, gladiator pulled it so so nicely. Actually going this weekend to trade the camper in for a 22ft with slide and Murphy bed (family has grown in the last 7 years, need the space!)
Haven't seen anyone mention tow mirrors yet. I have the rampage mirrors designed for wranglers, and another forum member designed and 3d prints these awesome adapters for gladiators, sells them on eBay. It's a pretty nice setup. Maybe there's better aftermarket options now but a year ago, that was the best I found.

Is it actually plug and play? My dealer told me it had to be programmed.

On the trucks, yes. I installed one on the RAM and the dealer had to flash to computer to activate the towing suite. This must be done in order to control it.

On the Gladiator no. It does not have the towing software in the infotainment (or at least mine didn't), but the controller works stand alone. It has a manual dial for gain and backlighting that tell you if it is activating...no apps needed.
