So I have a 2020 JTO nicely equipped, under 30k miles, and am seeing the new Gladiator price drops, and think hmmm.....?
Q 1:
If I could hit the dealer in Tennessee for an special ordered build, can I still order a 2023? I decided I want a Mojave in High Velocity. I saw one the other day, and just W0W!!
Q 2:
My math shows I would finance less (potentially) than my JTO, which with higher interest rates would balance out to approximately similar payments.
Q 3:
If you could, would you, and why?

p.s. Dad said I can`t post in 0 any more :(

The 2023 orders are done, you can only order a 2024. Who knows what the 2024 pricing will be, it has not been released yet.

It's your money, if the deal works, go for it. In my case, it would be a no because I can't get what I have now, even with the discounts, for what I'm willing to pay. A JTR equipped the way my 2021 is can't be found on the lots and I'm not going to pay 2024 pricing to get the stuff I want and have to take stuff I don't want.

I figured 2023 was done, and I1m okay with a 2024 because (this is dumb) but I like the new stereo better.
Insert least logical statement ever here ^^^^^^

As mentioned, 2023 orders are closed for sure. So it would be a 2024 with the new center screen, grille windshield with the embedded antenna (so dumb) and all the safety stuff.

We ordered a 2023 Mojave in Punkn orange that is sitting at Gupton Motors in TN for us to pick up next week. Mainly because my wife wanted the orange color badly but also because we didn’t care for any of the 2024 updates. Also the fact prices will be higher (whenever they come out).

My $0.02 would be to keep your 2020. Monthly cost may be the same but I’m guessing you are much closer to paying off the 2020. Now if you swap cars every few years, that’s not as important, but if you plan on keeping it, that does.

If the stereo is the main reason you want to upgrade, that’s something you easily can upgrade in the aftermarket. Not the same if say you wanted to go from a Sport to a Rubicon.

Why? You are 3 years closer to pay off, yet buy new and start over 60-84months. Why not spend some money and customize the one you have? I never can buy what I want from a dealer so I buy what makes sense knowing I'll add more in parts....

I agree keep it, I have a 2020 RUBI with 53,000 miles.
Still with 3 years warranty left. No way I could build one up getting a new 2024 .You do you.
I buy what I want not what I need.

You only live once. It's OK to indulge yourself once in a while if it makes you happy.

Never understood why YOLO was the battle cry of bad decisions. Sounds more like a word of caution to me.

Should I jump off this bridge? You only live once, so probably not.
Should I spend every penny i acquire on toys? You only live once, and retirement isn't free so probably not.

That's the YOLO i buy into.

You are making a strawman argument with ridiculous examples. If you want to stick to a strict rational decision on everything, then why buy a Jeep in the first place? Why buy nice clothes or shoes? Why buy a nice home when a very modest one will do?

Are you of the mindset you will always have a vehicle payment or do you want to someday have it paid off and have a few years of not making a payment?

Anytime I get the itch, I think of all the other shit I could buy/invest in for $500 a month….land, index funds, international vacations, further education, etc

I also ask myself, do I really fuckin need it? My JT sport is plenty and I’m never doing the Rubicon trail. If I do, I’ll install lockers, a winch, and join an off-road club (much cheaper).

Sounds like you should just lease with no money down. You'll have a new Gladiator every 3 years and not have to be in this dilemma ever again
