Grainger part number 2UY12 works well, nothing to fall in gearbox. I own a couple, different fluids, for the price, under 20 dollars(especially Grainger), I'm pleased, work well on my URAL gearboxes also. Sorry, couldn't figure out how to post link.

The issue is that the side arms fold in, but fishhook out if inserted all the way inside the housing? What’s the nominal purpose of that piece? Seems destined for heartache with this design
I think its to hold it in place while pumping. Maybe🤔

just did 4x4 service at the dealer, 2 differentials, transfer case was $485 total. yes, I can do it cheaper myself, but piece of mind for those situations
I like to get good photos of the wear pattern when I do the diffs. I bought a low profile cordless ratchet before I did my suspension and it’s money for all the diff cover bolts. It doesn’t take any longer than doing an oil change and if you do them all together you can let the crankcase drain while pulling the diff covers. Then while the diffs drain finish up the engine oil then close up the diffs.

Im committed to keeping this truck a long time so by DIYing it I not only save cash but gain insight into my maintenance intervals and the condition of the machine.

Another great quality of the JT is how maintenance friendly it is. Solid axles beat IFS in this regard. I’ve heard bad stories about shops wrecking the stupid plastic oil filter housing and observed myself the dealer over tightened the cover. It only needs to be tight enough not to leak.
