It's been, and I quote my former daughter-in-law, hot as balls lately. That doesn't stop the start-stop from working in the Cherokee. The only time it didn't work was when the battery was going bad. And fyi, the start-stop is brutal on batteries. We're on our 3rd in the Cherokee in five years.

Engine braking. Okay, that feels right then.
Hot as balls…..I know exactly what that means. Lol

I like it.

My A/C is not on in my new JTR, but I've noticed auto stop/start is not working.
Could it be due to the internal temp set to "LO"? Even without A/C on the difference between 80 degrees and "LO" is too great for ESS?

I wonder how long the electronic controls will function correctly after the warranty runs out? From past experience, starter solenoids create burned contacts internally each time the start command is given. This gets worse over time untill there is no current flow to the windings. Just that dreaded click/clunk = 0. Does the second battery get energized in series or parallel with the main? 24VDC would spin the starter faster for a quicker start.

The Tazer will save the state of A.S.S. being off, one of the very first things I bought for my JTR. I've had several discussions with mech-e's that wheel about why that kind of system is a disaster for a vehicle you're going to keep.

Leased BMW? No problem.

1. So does the JT. It's a matter of temperature, not what's on or not on. If you scroll the cluster display it will show is ESS is ready or not, what's up with it, etc.

2. The JT is different in that it uses engine braking more than any other truck I've owned - and it's smart about it. I love its differences.
That would explain the whistle/hum I hear when letting off mine then yeah?
I don't really feel like mine is engine braking but I also drive cdl so I'm probably just used to more resistance.

It will also not engage under other circumstances like having the wheels turned at a stop.

One of my peeves on the climate control is the AC light. On "Auto" or "Max AC", the light is not on even though the compressor is obviously compressing.

Back to the topic -- In AZ when it's 115 outside, the ASS never ASSs. And a damn good thing it doesn't, because you would DIE!
