Two winches?

If I hadn't already did the winch in a stock plastic bumper project, I'd probably try out the portable route.

I might do it anyway. I can get another plastic bumper for free

I don't like the thought of having to carry that weight from one end to the other, or have it in the bed of the truck to carry around - when you are already in a sticky spot where getting around and installing a winch could be tricky (not to mention the weight). If you are buried in mud, the last thing I'd want is to have to put a winch in place and connect it with the bumper sitting on mud.

I like the more permanent setup he's got on the rear. Just leave it there.

Oh no doubt - if I used winches more than I do, I think a dual setup is cool. Especially if the rear one was a smaller / lighter body 8K winch. I'd want to try and hide it behind the bumper with a flip down license plate though as I use that center step frequently.

But for my life currently, one that I could move with a receiver would be neat. Especially since I could put a receiver on the front of my tractor and move it there too if I wanted.

I doubt I re-invent the wheel now, but maybe I try my luck with a cheaper winch on a portable mount that I can use in a variety of places.

That entire tractor I bought was partially under the premise that $282 a month to scoot crap around the yard was cheaper than blowing a vertebrae out

That's what I told the some day wife, anyway.
