Hello all!
I'm sure that there is info somewhere on here for this, but hopefully I can get a quick response with my own thread post.

I want to swap my 5 inch radio for a 7 inch radio mostly to be able to use apple carplay. I have a 2021 Gladiator willys. I noticed that 2022 have 7inch with apple carplay as standard. There are some online sellers that are able to sell their removed 7 inch uconnect systems for a few hundred dollars.

If I get one of these what are the other pieces that I will need for the swap. I have read that I might need a different climate control panel and bevel for around the screen.

what are the parts for this swap? and is it a easy process?
Thanks

Previously it was horrendously expensive because to upgrade the 5.0" to anything, you had to replace the HVAC controls with the dual-zone unit to maintain volume and power (still only worked in single-zone though). The Sport is still showing single-zone and 5.0" standard with the Sport S getting the 7.0" which means I'm guessing the Sport S also gets dual zone standard too. Specs say otherwise but Jeep has been wrong there many times before.

Unless they changed the 7.0" head unit, I don't see this changing and you'd be able to replace the entire sound system aftermarket for less than a simple head unit swap.

You can change to the 7" unit with three things:
1) 7" radio
2) Faceplate for 7" radio
3) Anti-theft code for the new radio
If you do this, the only way to control volume will be with the buttons on the back of the steering wheel. The screen will always be on. It works fine this way as that's what I did on my 2020 Wrangler.

You can get fancier and upgrade the climate controls so you have the full radio controls if desired but it's not absolutely necessary.

It's an easy swap to replace the radio. I did it in maybe 15 minutes maximum on the Wrangler.

Did you have any issues with your HVAC? I replaced the 5" with the 8.4 UConnect and my HVAC would default to full heat for about a minute after each start of the vehicle, turning the HVAC controls did nothing that first minute. I could live with that during the winter, but dang I had to source a center HVAC stack when summer hit.

No, no issues with the HVAC and the 7" radio in my 2020 Wrangler.
