I bought an overland and am looking to upgrade the suspension after a shakedown run at the end of March. This truck will be used primarily as an overland vehicle with ultimate plans to run the pan american highway. I am prioritizing reliability and want to install an upgraded "rubicon" suspension. Rubicon height springs and LCA's with a fast adjustable shock like a falcon. I will probably be running 33 or 34" tires to save gas, cost of tires and not break any axles. I've not seen much of this as most people upsize tires and lift their trucks. Can anyone point me towards a build, suggest some options or shoot holes in my plan? Thanks!

Control arms should be the same. Rubicon springs can be easily acquired from those who are installing lift kits - and for pretty cheap.

33" tires shouldn't be a problem, as that's what stock on the Rubicon.

In fact, what you're really wanting is the Rubicon suspension, but with different shocks. No reason you can't piece that together.

In short, all I think you really need are;

  • Rubicon pull-off springs
  • tires
  • shocks
Am I missing something?

You don't think the LCA's are slightly longer on the rubicon suspension?

I am pretty sure they are the same.
I can't find anything that says otherwise

Elff is correct. No difference between the LCA's on your Overland and a Rubicon. I have a complete Rubicon takeoff suspension minus the LCA's if you're interested. Removed from a 3.6 with steel bumpers.

Correct all the models came with the same length LCAs. What I did on my Rubicon was ordered the longer LCAs that come with the Mopar lift to help with my caster as they come will low caster numbers. The longer LCAs can be purchased for about $30 each.

Thanks everyone for all your info and @lppd45 for your rubi takeoff parts. I'm also adding in some jks quick disconnects and a set of 275/70r18 grabber atx that the dealer is installing because they were running a buy 3 get the 4th for a dollar. I'll be installing the suspension this weekend.

Got the new 275/70r18 General grabber AT Xs installed today and the Rubicon suspension fully installed with the jks disconnects. Very happy with the on road ride quality, I may get up to some trails this weekend as a shakedown run but if not definitely next weekend I'll be out at Rausch creek. Finished everything up about a half hour ago so I didn't get any pictures but I think it looks awesome. The bigger tires are the perfect size and look heaps better than the anemic stockers. I also can't believe how quiet the generals are, I used to have AT3Ws on my colorado and the ATXs are much quieter.

I feel your making a mistake. If you’re looking at a long migration trip this means you’ll have more stuff with you than if you were going out to eat. I’d recommend max tow springs with a spacer. The rubicon springs are super soft.
