Under back seat installed a kicker HS10 hideaway.

The amp was a pita getting grounded for some reason.
This system seriously booms now. About $500 in stereo upgrades. Night and day difference from before.
Question...you mentioned you went from the 7 to 8.4 inch Uconnect...I'm assuming you changed out the unit itself. If so, did you order it through the dealer? If so, do you have a part number? I tried to go to mine and ask about it but the parts guy gave me a run around about how I would have to bring my 7" unit in and then they would send it off and I would get a re-manufactured one...

Nah this was directly from another user. I believe the us part number is 68417861Ax

You can find em crop up from time to time around $800. Parts guys don’t know crap. The only thing you need them for is getting your unlock code if you sell yours to someone.

I'm still waiting for my email to order the Terra Accoustic speakers. Are they really worth $200+? or would the dart replacements be just as good.
I am not familiar with the dart replacements but I like the Terra's. Easy install look stock on the dash and the improvement of the front soundstage is excellent. You will definitely need some more bass/mid bass to offset the improvement on the high end with the Terra's/

I could not find a working ground for the life of me. People said the seat bolts worked but for some reason did not for me. I used the ground point behind the kick panel on the rear passenger. Here is the topology I went with.
Thank you. I got a ground wire in my kit that's about 2 feet long. I tried unscrewing the damn seat bolt with the tool they supply you and was afraid to strip it. I see a possible in the driver's side storage bin that i will try. Seen some YT videos where they use the seat bolts, I just need a better tool.

I did the Terra acoustics in the dash and added a kicker powered sub in the rear behind the seat. It made a nice improvement on the low and top end. Sound is still a bit thin in the middle and may do a sound bar upgrade with some additional Kicker speakers as others have done but for now I'm good.
The JBL gto629s 6.5s worked amazing for my sound bar.

Yeah dude. At some point they changed to these new screws. It stripped two of my sockets. I had to break out the good sockets to get that bitch off.

Im guessing you did the cutting to make the 6.5" work in the sound bar, if so, did you use a template? Who was the template bought through?

Im seeing them as high as 175.00...

It was the SSV or something like that template. I was able to find one for around 70 on ebay. Before securing that, I did the regular speaker upgrade and the difference was minimal. The JBL gtos were a huge difference.

I see a decent amount of threads about upgrading speakers or going further and installing subs, amps, etc...I wanted to start a single thread for all of us who didn't spend the money on the Alpine system to discuss what you have done to your system and your thoughts on its performance. I see quite a bit about upgrading the Alpine system but not a ton on the "regular" system.

What did you do? How has the sound improved? Are you happy with it?
Last year, I had Focal 6" speakers installed in the sound bar and lower dash, added a DD Audio amp to my stock 7" head unit. Also had bass blockers installed on the tweeters. And then just recently added the 10" Punch sub and this custom box, along with another DD Audio amp to power the sub. I have to say it is a very impressive sounding set up.

Yes, I was happy and yes it was loud before the sub. But after a year, I wanted to round things out and add a bit of punch on the low end. I'm so glad I did. Cost a bit, but well worth it.
