My best one came from USPS. Ordered something coming from Houston, Tx, came to San Antonio, I live 20 miles south of SA. It sat then was sent back to Houston then to Puerto Rico! After a couple of weeks it finally made it to me.🤬🤬

Shipping carriers have gotten completely unhinged in the last few years. It’s crazy. They closed our local UPS hub last year and moved part of it inside a Meijer grocery store of all places.

I have a side hustle making wood and resin knick-knacks on my lathe and had to ship out an order before Christmas last year. So I packaged everything up really nice in a box from work and took it in there to ship. I waited in line 15 minutes only for the lady behind the counter to go all DEA agent on me and say she couldn’t ship my package unless she knew what was in it. I said ā€œIt’s a box of wooden knick-knacks ma’amā€. She then says ā€œWell let’s just cut this open and see what we have hereā€¦ā€. No thanks.

On the opposite end of the spectrum, a few years back when I lifted my other truck, I had ordered my lift parts from Eibach. Some of the stuff came directly from them, but the other part of the order came from another hub. When the second part of the order came, it had a pile of other parts that looked like JC Whitney, Summit and AutoZone had a yard sale. There were mufflers, a Holley gasket set, VentShades, an RV shitter tube, and a blow-up mattress.

Very confused by this, I called the place I got the second half of the order from and they were even more confused than I was. So I called Eibach and they said they would get to the bottom of it. The dude got me on a conference call and I took pictures of everything, shipping tags etc. They said they would send a truck to pick up the random stuff that wasn’t mine. A few hours later I get a call saying they weren’t going to mess with it and they told me to just keep the random items. Talk about a real head scratcher.

My all-time fav was when I was expecting a delivery from FedEx and it required a signature. Being I'm retired, me being home to sign was a non-issue.

We also have a Ring camera that sends alerts when someone is in the driveway. I was in our bedroom watching TV, heard the Ring chime on my phone, look out the window, FedEx dude. I put on a shirt, put on my slippers and went downstairs. Through our front door window I see no FedEx truck. I open the front door and see the "Sorry we missed you" sticker on the door.

As they say in sports, "Let's go to the video.". I pull up the Ring video, FedEx dude quickly walked up - empty handed - stuck the notice on my door and shagged. Never even rang the bell !!

Yeah, I was livid. It wasn't my regular delivery driver, he's cool. For years I can put Please leave package behind column, I hope this note serves as a signature, I could not get off work. Thank you. And he's left it every time. I thought about calling and complaining, but I didn't want them to confuse this clown with my regular driver.

I don't know what the story was with this clown. The next day my regular driver made the delivery. I told him what happened. His response ? "Yeah, he's a dick. He'll be getting fired soon.".
FedEx pulled that stunt on me once.

Lucky for me, the driver continued down the dead end road behind my house. I chased him down and got my package.

My purchases always get to travel better places than me and for a lot less than it would cost for me to go kind of jealous of them.
I wonder if someone someplace just accidentally checked the wrong box on the screen making it an international shipment triggering all the attention.

Friday the vendor agreed this is crazy and said he was canceling my order and reshipping 2-day. I looked on the website and nothing changed so I called and they said technically they have until Monday (which was yesterday) to ship before they can cancel a package in transit.

I reminded the guy we both talked to UPS and I'll never get this. So when it didn't come yesterday I called and told them to get the ball rolling either on a refund or ship me another bumper. Then he says they have a one day late policy so if I don't get it Tuesday (today) they'll cancel. I start to feel like they're jerking me around now so I move to a higher up and all the sudden it becomes if I don't get it Thursday they'll refund or reship.

I wasn't getting the warm and fuzzies so I called my credit card and they refunded my money. We have an agreement that if I ever receive it and happen to keep it I'll reach back out and they can undo the dispute. I hate to be this way but I don't want the goal post to keep moving and all of the sudden I'm past the date to dispute. If I get it and keep it I'll do the right thing and let them know.

A heavy duty bumper isn't cheap and I don't want to have to buy another and in essence pay for two only to get one.

All of this because the vendor in CA was $60 cheaper on the bumper and free shipping. Not sure what shipping would've been on the bumper, but if it was $40 I'm not sure saving $100 total was worth all of this hassle.

Customer service is a thing of the past. People today do not care about other, or doing their job. I lost all hope. No one can make change, and they are so busy Facebooking, that they could care less about giving good customer service. I am just taking them away from their friends list. I know the stuff I purchase may or may not arrive but am more concerned about these brain-dead people running the home I will get stuffed into before I die.

Well.... talk about a weird ending

I get home from the office just after 6PM and I park and walk back to the end of the driveway to get the mail. UPS truck stops right beside me. Has my bumper. The bumper was packed well, no damage and it was what I wanted. So afterwards I called my CC and told them to reverse my refund, I'm not a thief. LOL!

I asked the driver - WHAT in the world was going on with all the Customs, foreign countries, etc. Obviously he had no idea about any of that and he looked on the label and in his tablet thing and said we received this package in Lexington, KY that's where it originated. I live 25 miles east of Nashville. I have driven to Lexington for day fun and drove home the same day.

I showed him my tracking that originated in Riverdale, CA --> Memphis, TN --> Nashville, TN --> Lebanon, TN where I live. He said "no" it went from Lexington, KY directly to Lebanon, TN yesterday and I delivered it today.

I guess the moral of the story is the tracking info we get online isn't worth a crap.

Slightly off topic, but not - my wife had a night out with friends so we took separate vehicles to the gym Friday and my son and I stopped at 5 Guys to get a bite. We ordered the EXACT same thing - hamburger, fries and a drink except we had different toppings on our burgers. The girl says it's cheaper if you order it this way. I tell her I don't care as long as we get what we ordered.

She hands me a cup and I head to the drink station. We sit down and I notice my son doesn't have a cup. I asked him and he said she didn't give him one. I wasn't going to sit there and watch him choke all that down so I got up and got him a cup.

We get our food. Two hamburgers, one fry. His burger is plain and mine has every topping they offer. I can handle everything even though some of it doesn't mix well, but I'm allergic to mayo. I look at my ticket and it was only for 1 drink, 2 burgers and one fry for $33.

I walk to the counter with both burgers to tell them this is wrong. Some pimply face teen comes to the counter that looks like he's been bobbing for french fries in the hot grease and I say, "I'm missing a fry" he responds, "One fry? I'll pick one up off the floor and give it to you."

I'll spare the details but I had a come apart and we were asked to leave or be trespassed by the police. He said a LOT of snarky remarks before I had my come apart and I was in shock before I let loose.

Ha!!! This happened to me at WalMart during a Black Friday. I went in with the ex and we wanted to look at Christmas lights since they were on sale. Christmas lights are back with toys. That means long lines just to get into the toy section. Employees thought we were trying to cut the toy line. I explained we were going to the lights. I was calm……… until I wasn’t. Young kid with an attitude, crowds, ptsd. That ain’t a good combo for rainbows and unicorns. Ex got me outta there before LE showed up but I was hotter than a branding iron halfway through branding season.

Retired. Finally !!
I kinda understand the kid...notice I said "understand", not "accept". Grab a cup, refill your cup, I fear this will be a long one...

When I first discharged, I got a job as an armed Security Officer. My first post was working nights at a large oil company's headquarters. There was a pending Board of Directors meeting coming up, they had the room swept for bugs, the lock cylinder was changed, we were given the key and a clipboard of authorized people that can enter the room. No exceptions. Not even Police or Fire without an escort. We stood in front of that door in 2 hour shifts.

My turn in the barrel. Crappy detail. It's around midnight, a guy walks up and demands, "Let me in." "Yes sir, our orders are no one is allowed access unless on the Authorization list. May I see your ID please ?" "I don't have time for your bullshit, open the door." "Sir, my orders are -" and he yells loudly, "OPEN THIS GODDAMN DOOR NOW !!". I pull my radio from my holster to bump my Sgt.. He yells, "DO YOU KNOW WHO I AM ?!?!" I yell back, "WHY ? DID YOU FORGET ??". Not a smooth move... He jerks back, eyes wide and stares at me. I stare back, unblinking. He plucks my full access ID badge off my shirt and walks away. I can't leave my post. I bump my Sgt.

My Sgt. comes up, I tell him all what happened, even my snarky remark. I tell him what I thought his name badge said and he asks, "Did you say it that way to him ?" "Yeah, why ?" "He's a Cajun. He hates when people say his name wrong." Me, a New Yorker now in Texas, asks, "Whadehell is a Cajun ?" My Sgt. chuckles then says, "He's one of the biggest big-wigs here with a huge ego. You know you're probably gonna be fired for this." "Yeah, I don't care. I was following orders." He shakes his head and say, "You damn Marines." and smiles. I say "Better than being a dog face." (he was Army). We both laugh. I was relieved and spent the rest of my shift in the office on dispatch, I didn't have my access card. I fill out the required Incident Report.

I brief my LT in the morning, he says he'll let me know what happens, odds are it won't be good. 3 hours later he calls, says come back in full uniform. Dammit, I just got to sleep. I knew what was going to happen. I put civvy's under my uniform so I can leave all that crap there. The gun belt, 1911 pistol and gear was mine, that's coming home with me. I get there, the LT says, "Go to (so-n-so's) office, he's expecting you.". I was shocked, that guy was the biggest dog in the company, the main dude. Head honcho. I'm hosed. I tell my LT, "Sir, if I'm shit-canned, just tell me, I'll leave all my gear here.". "Go. He's already knows you're here and waiting for you. Don't make the man wait.".

I go, as I walk up to his secretary's desk (relax, that is what they were called back then), she has a big ol' grin. She says my name, I say, "Yes ma'am.". She motions toward his door. I go in. In that room was a couple men. One of them being the guy in which I had the confrontation. He introduces me to everyone and with a chuckle he mis-pronounces my guys name, saying it the way I did. I stammer, "Sir, I didn't know -" and he holds up his hand. "It's okay, everyone says those crazy Cajun names wrong." and throws a smile at my guy. My guy is visibly pissed.

The Prez then goes on to congratulate me for standing my ground, following orders and not folding under. But, he said I need to control myself, act more professional and not respond with the like actions of others. He adds, "Just because he acts like an idiot, doesn't mean you should." "Yes Sir." He asks, "You prior military ?" "Yes Sir. United States Marine Corps.". "I thought so.". He turns to my guy and says, "Don't fuck with the Marines. Shake his hand in thanks.". My guy squeezed my hand SO hard trying to make me wince. Didn't happen. My knuckles popped. Then he said, "I'm going to call your company to tell them to give you a meritorious 2 dollar an hour raise for a job well done. Have a good day and thank you for your service. For here with us and the military.". Sounds stupid, but I damn near saluted the guy. But I did take one step back and did an about face. I was embarrassed I did that. Not so old habits.

I go back to the office and tell my LT what happened. He smiled and said he already knew and already called it in, it should be on my next check. Best part ? I still got my standard raise two months later.

Within a month we had a 3 ring binder with 8x10 color photo's of all the big-wigs, their titles, names and a phonetic pronunciation beneath. We had to learn them all. Thanks to me.

That whole memory (and damn near short story) triggered from a snarky French fry remark. Apologies.

@Mud Pie Yep. Marines get into trouble following our orders to the letter sometimes. Right after 9-11 I was on a gate. Guy rolled up and asked if he could come through the gate because it was closed down. I denied him entry as the gate was ordered to be closed. Once I got back to the guard shack I looked up at the pictures hung there. Yep. Id just denied entry to the Base CO. I didn’t live that one down for a while. šŸ˜‚

I got along with all the officers, with the exception of butter bars. I think they had something to prove.

One day in boot while cleaning the barracks, a female Captain came in and came straight up to me, I was scrubbing the floor by the hatch. Before anyone could even yell, "Officer on deck !!" (a requirement) she politely gave me her name and told me to go get our Senior Drill Instructor. I yelled out "YES SIR - MA'AM !!" She was used to that. She goes, "Sir ?" and points to her chest. "What are these Private ? These are tits." I'm standing there thinking, "well, not really..." Then she continues. "Females have tits, Males do not. Remember that. But oorah on the quick recovery. Go get your SDI.". She didn't yell, spoke at a normal tone. Something I was NOT used to.

Had a similar mess with a skid plate order — UPS lost the return label twice and the replacement showed up before they ever picked up the wrong one. Vendor at least comped me for the hassle.
