Im going to run power, probably fron one of the upfitter switches to one of the two blanks in the bed. What is the one on the driver's side designed for? Its going to be a better place for me as when I inflate my mattress it covers th small one on the passenger side.

Interesting... what year? I don't think i have that panel. I ran power for usb to the passenger side blank where factory auxiliary outlet would typically go

Supposedly that panel area was going to be for a external power access point when the Gladiator 4xe model that was suppose launch late 2025 or early 2026 but got canceled.

My 2025 has it.

Be interesting to see what’s behind that piece of plastic? Is there an open void, a hole in the bedside panel? Or stamp molded area designed specifically for an option?

Empty. I pulled it yesterday, and just like the other side, it's an empty void.

I've decided to just go with USB's back there. Using something like this, which I've used on several motorcycles. 4 Port 12v USB outlet It will be used for phones at night and recharge small batteries during travel.

It's going to be a long run from the battery or the upfitter, 25'?

It's rated for 10 amps - an online calculator says #10 AWG with a 15 A fuse. Does that sound right?

#10 Is far too much that's the size of wire you hook up water heaters with

LOL - funny.
You have no idea how much power some of us pull back there.
I ran heavy wire to the bed of mine so that I can power USB charging ports and a connector for my trailer mounted winch, and run a 12v outlet, even charge small batteries back there.

I have an anderson connector, a USB charging port and on the left side I will add a 12v outlet.

The breaker for my 50 amp anderson connector for powering my 2500 pound trailer winch and whatever else I want to power by it.

Ground for my anderson connection in the rear. (B)
(A) is the wire bundle from the rear/bed area.

Wire in the clamp is the hot lead going to the bed. No, 10 isn't too small and allows for future needs.

I like the Anderson connector idea. Is it better to switch things i.e. a fridge over to Anderson or just install a cigarette power point?

Just food for thought...

Think about any additional "appliances" you want to run in the future: camping fridges, air compressors, etc.

Not sure of your hobbies but maybe go more robust wiring, just in case...

The "cigarette lighter" type of 12v outlet is weak, limited in what it can handle and is prone to vibrating loose at times.
I decided to go Anderson for several reasons - my trailer winch of course, but I figured I can make adapters and power almost anything I might have from it. Might even get a cheap compressor I could plug into it.

Perfect, I'll upgrade to 8ga, as we are considering a portable fridge.
