I purchased a M1101 military trailer that I want to use for overland camping. I would like to convert the trailer hubs from 8 lug 6.5” bolt pattern to 5x5 so that I can use Jeep wheels and 35” tires. I have searched for days for hub adaptations or other ways to accomplish this. Does anyone have suggestions?

When I was building mine (m101), I just bought a new axel. Then I was able to order the width that I wanted, lug pattern, electronic brakes and the parking break. I even ordered it flipped with new leaf springs.

do you remember where you got the axle? Did you have to change springs, shocks?

I ordered the axel from Redneck Trailer supply. I got lucky because they were right down the street from my house. I ordered it with new leaf springs. I never installed shocks on it.

Dang are them 1102 trailers great, a unit I was in got a forced issue of them for all unit vehicles capable of pulling one.
I thought about buying one but wasn't sure I wanted that heavy of trailer, I had a trailer made with a MJ short bed at the time with a ton plus axle.
FYI: Anyone in S.E. GA, S.C., or N. FL. and you see a Comanche bed trailer with a 2×2 square tubing frame and bumper and axle. Let me know I'd love to know who stole it.

What did you end up doing as I am wanting to do the exact same thing. I got the M1102 for the reason for the beefier axle than the M1101 so I'm not really wanting to swap out the axle. Let me know either way as I am curious.

I ended up just buying new wheels. The wheels from a dodge 3500 pickup truck fit the military hubs. I put 17 in rims on and 35” tires.
