I have a 2022 JTR with the 8.4" UConnect infotainment system. This time of year, I get some sort of weather alert almost every time I drive it. The weather alerts are always for Franklin County, which is approximately 80 miles from where I live in Boston/Suffolk County, Mass. Sometimes I see weather alerts for Worcester County, which is about 40 miles away. I have never seen an alert for where I live and drive.

Is UConnect really this dumb, or do others get weather alerts that are relevant to their lives?

The tow truck/disabled vehicle alert is annoying and honestly more distracting than useful. I always find it ironic that they are alerting me to keep an eye on the road by taking my eyes off the road.
I honestly don't mind those. They are at least relevant to my life and give me a chance to move over for the stopped vehicle. I really don't care if there's a high wind advisory 90 minutes away though.

I still get those and the tow truck one. I have no idea why because my Jeep is six yrs old and I never paid for any services.

When I'm near home I just ignore them, but when I'm on road trips they are nice. Even if not the exact area, at least I know somethings up somewhere nearby.

This reminds me of a question I've had...

Does a dense fog advisory trigger our fog lights to automatically turn on?

My fog lights seem to turn themselves on and a few times I tried to turn them off, and they turned themselves back on 30 seconds later.

no idea but thats kind of genius if they do and should be incorporated into other things.

Just imagine it, headlights automatically come on if the weather reports its raining. Headlights automatically come on 30 minutes prior to the official sunset time for the day.

My headlights turn on when I turn on the windshield wipers and they turn on when it gets dark enough based on the light sensor and "auto" mode.

I like the emergency vehicle, disabled alert. You just have to have Nav, I think. Its not a paid service for us, but usually the emergency vehicle has to pay a sub for it. I actually bought this program for our service/construction trucks. Not implemented, but it will warn you when your nearing a work zone. Its to help with our thruway workers, since morons love to not move over and drive into the back of our trucks or cop cars. Like HAAS alerts, which Stellantis did partner with. Weather thing, I think thats through Sirius

Are you sure there’s nothing on your phone (apps) that is giving you those weather alerts? I mean… start deleting all the weather apps (on your phone) and see if the alerts go away. Or at least, turn OFF locations services, notifications, and god only knows what else….. šŸ™„ Most apps on my phone, I turn OFF location services & notifications.

I don’t get any weather alerts on mine (2024).
I do get tow truck alerts and certain traffic alerts. I’m not sure what ā€˜drives’ those alerts - probably a factory NAV thing??

Fair enough, but I use Waze for that and it’s way less startling.

I get them when my phone isn't connected to the vehicle.

Same here, I get occasional weather alerts in my '21 JT despite there being no phone even in the truck let alone connected to one.

Are you subscribed and/or paying for UConnect Services?

I’m not subscribed to any of that…. .
