My state does its registration costs by weight of the vehicle, just got my renewal at a nice $516.90. I am wondering if anyone has weighed their JT and found a discrepancy on what the DMV has recorded as the weight and the actual weight. My old LJ was off by about 950lbs which saved me around $100 a year for the registration. Just curious if anyone has put their ride on a scale.

Arizona is a Lieu Tax based on original MSRP. When I bought the Sport S Max Tow it was $563.56. This decreases by 15% per year (i.e will be $479.03 next year at renewal) until it reaches a minimum amount. I believe the minimum is $35.00.

To answer your question, my Max Tow went across the certified CAT scales at 4,739 lbs. I believe.

After I added wheels, tires, winch bumper, winch, bed cover, lights, etc. she made it to 5,000 lbs. Pretty heavy for a mid-size truck. A F-150 Supercrew is lighter!

After I added wheels, tires, winch bumper, winch, bed cover, lights, etc. she made it to 5,000 lbs. Pretty heavy for a mid-size truck. A F-150 Supercrew is lighter!

The heat can be oppressive sometimes but at least taxes and fees don't kill us. It's just a mere $46.85 annually here.
If you get a plate like my Iraqi freedom Plate, you can knock 1/4 of that off the price. (You need a DD214 with service in Iraq for it)

I pay less than $40 per year for mine.

If they made the JT's out of rolled iron like the YJ, it would weigh 7000 lbs!

My Overland (with 33” A/T tires) came in at 4900 (including taking my weight out) with a 1/4 tank of gas leaving the dump scale yesterday.
