Kind of weird issue started happening. I have a 2021 Overland JT with 1300 miles on it. So fairly brand new.

Starting like a week ago, a weird thing with my AC started happening. I live in the South so it's hot. I usually always have my AC set to 68 with recirculation on. It blew super cold with no issues until now.

I noticed as I was driving around one day, it was very warm. Not hot air, but luke warm. And it was on 68 as usual. Never changed controls... So I turned it all the way down to where it says "lo" and it blew very cold. I went back up to 68 and it was warm air again.

So the next day I started up the truck, it was normal again. 68 was blowing cold air.

So long story short, it keeps doing this and I can't find a culprit. It either works fine or I have to crank it down all the way to blow cold air.

Any ideas? Anyone else experience this?

This has happened to me before in both my JT and my last car (‘18 Charger RT). It doesn’t happen often for me though. Not sure what causes it either.

If the Jeep thinks the cabin is at or above 68 degrees when set to 68 degrees is will try to maintain that temp, so the air being discharged will be warmer. If it is reading above 68 it will blow cold to cool to the set temp.

Your manual actually gives an amazing explanation about how it perfroms with the automatic, and Temp set (not just red and blue) control style HVAC

I don't have the auto temp on though... I do it manually

Was the ambient temperature around 68 degrees? My auto setting doesn’t work well at all when the outside temp is close to the temperature setting I choose for my Jeep. I have to trick it by going lower or higher than I actually want and after driving for a while change it to where is comfortable. I’ve taken it to the dealership twice for this issue and they say it’s normal. It’s not normal, it’s poorly designed and it’s the only vehicle I’ve ever had with automatic temperature control where I had to do this.

2020 Overland, but I doubt they’ve addressed this issue.

So you have the temp set, so the jeep will try and match that temp. All Auto refers to is the mode and fan speed, will still try and keep at the temp you set automatically. Like I said, jeep honestly explains the whole system very well

So if I have it manually set to 68, the truck will still go off of ambient temperatures?? Basically if it's like 65 outside, it will try to warm the cabin? That's kind of annoying.

Yes, that's how it works with climate control. It will always try to make the cabin 68°, whether by warming or by cooling. The idea is set it and forget it. You're supposed to find your perfect temperature, and leave it alone all year.

This exact situation has happened to others and was the impetus of a really long thread, earlier in this forum. You should go back and search on what the experience of those others has been.

First, be sure to make a sandwich and have a cold beverage or two right handy.

And this is without the "automatic" fear turned on... This is just normal behavior of the system?
