What are your miles vs. engine hours?

After four months of ownership I just discovered the Gladiator has an hours on engine meter. I've never had a vehicle with that feature and was surprised to learn that at 1,500 miles (only drive it on weekends) that it has 70 engine hours. That seems high to me but I guess I spend a lot of time at stop lights or something. What's your ratio?

Do you mean the trip counter hours? I've never seen an hours counter anywhere besides there in my JT and I think that one rolls over at 1000 hours eg 999 back to 1.

P71 Crown Vic Police Interceptors have them. I haven’t kept up with mine but, both my JT, and our ‘06 Grand Cherokee have them. The Interceptors will go indefinately. I’m not sure about the Jeeps though. There’s a formula fleet mechanics use that convert the hours to miles. I’ve seen a lot of Crown Vic’s at police auctions with low miles, (80,00 or so), that actually had the equivalent of 170,000 miles of run time on the engine.

I know the diesel F250's has a hour meter including idling time.

This would be a neat feature but I really don't think the JT has one. The dual trip meters have the associated hours, but once the meter hits the display limit or you reset the meter the hours zero.

No, I don’t think the hour meter is indefinite count. I had to put a battery in my wife’s Grand Cherokee last night, and looked at the meter out of curiosity. It had reset to all zeros. It wouldn’t have reset if it was a permanent total count.
