Got back from vacation and my new pards and rotors arrived. Swapped the front pads and rotors, took my time and really cleaned a lot of crud off the calipers.

when i went to do the rear i first found that BOTH rear rotors arrived nicked up
On the edges from shipping. The nicks weren’t awful I suppose but they wetr enough i was concerned they would cut up the pads. So i just cleaned the rear rotors and calipers a lot and installed new rear pads, despite the old ones looking petty dang good still.

things i found though…

1: my rear rotors didnt have a rotor retention bolt (the t30 one), neither of them! Very glad i listen to two advice on this forum and ordered two of them ahead of time just in case I stripped out one wall removing it.

2: my rear pads had very little wear on them… I always assumed a rear wheel drive vehicle would use the rear brakes more. It was a neat lesson learned for me that our front brakes are used more than our rears.

3: i’ve had a strange squeak that starts every time I start moving when the vehicle is parked. I haven’t been able to find any cars and neither has my dealer so I’ve just sort of lived with it for a while. While putting new pads in I noticed almost every single pad retention clip had the little Spring part broken. Which makes me think maybe the pads weren’t fully disengaging from the rotor and that was causing the squeaking noise.?‍♂ Time will tail, but I haven’t heard the squeak since I finished the work.

4: and a Saul that the front pads I ordered from @AllMoparParts.com had more pad material than the ones that were on there. Both were Mopar, but the old ones were installed by a dealer who said they used the parts for my max tow. I’m not sure if that’s true or the pads have just changed since then.

Do the rears use the disc brakes for the e-brake or were there mini brake shoes that went into the hat of the rotor?

Installed the Rock Krawler Pro X steering, Redneck Ram hydro assist and the skid plates for the Rock Slide Engineering steps. Oh, and replaced the aluminum steering box with a new ported steel box.

Mini drum for the e brake, as you said, into the inside of the rotor.

Installed the Genesis Gen 3 battery system this morning. I was sort of dreading the job as electrical work intimidates me a bit. Went pretty smoothly without any major snags. As I had suspected, I had to sacrifice my Rugged Ridge snorkel. The ducting will not play nicely withe the new battery system.

Check out the size difference between the front and rear calipers.

If the braking was distributed equally we'd often lock up the rears as all the momentum shifts to the front.

Is that the Baxter oil filter attachment I see in the background? If so, how are you liking it?

You have a sharp eye. Yes, it’s the Baxter cartridge to screw on adapter. I will not really be able to evaluate it for some years. If it works as advertised, the engine should have a long life without premature valve issues.

To add on to this.
A rwd has about 70% of it's stopping power with the front brakes.
A fwd has about 80% stopping power with it's front brakes.
A crotch rocket has about 95% stopping power with the front brakes.

Well I installed the Corsa catch can and the Baxter performance oil filter conversion.

Less oil and vapor in the intake and combustion camber good. The Baxter set means no more dry starts. Gotta do everything I can to make this 3.6 last........til it gets LTX swapped

It was a couple of weeks ago but I got Bridgestone 285/70r17 tires mounted. Slight drop in gas mileage. Whole huge drop in road noise. My wife asked what the sound was as we were driving down the highway and I told her wind noise. She never noticed it before with all the noise the stock Willys tires had made.

Also everyone has been calling it "that fancy Jeep" lately. The tires do give it a certain compact bulldog look without a lift. And with the roofrack visually adding bulk to the cab portion of the truck.
