So today I started my sound bar upgrade. Only had time to get one side completed. I do have the second one ready to install. I only have to trim the bar to finish the install. BIG shoutout to @WILDHOBO for the tip. Simply used a utility knife with new blade to cut out the enclosure for the new speaker to fit. No saw, no dremel, no hot pieces of plastic flying all around inside the truck and in my eyes, easy cleanup. Did it with the bar in place. Old vs New.

Hope you can add some step by step pictures to show how involved it is.

I upgraded the sound bar speakers in my 2024 JTM. I still have a little more work to do with the crossover point, but it is night and day better than the stock "Premium" speakers.

There are pictures and a write up at the link below.

The good thing about having the upgraded system is you don't have to worry about a crossover as they are already installed from the factory.

Technically I’d say this thread is for modifications, but I did Pritchett Canyon “to it” yesterday. It was a tough trail, as expected. But I’m happy to report no body damage, and just a scratched driveshaft that’s still balanced at highway speeds. Winched three times, which was also expected. I couldn’t be happier with the mods done this far. They made that trail possible. Thanks to @Jc38 for doing it with me. What a great day.

I finally put on the Rugged Ridge Fortis front tube doors that I found used on FB marketplace a couple of months ago. We can use these sometimes on my wife’s Wrangler also. I may get a set of rear tube doors at some point but will just use the front ones for now

Here you go. So total install of passenger speaker took about 25 minutes. Only took 10 minutes to cut out the hole for the 6.5" and tweeter to fit. Used the SSV Works JJT-SA065 speaker adapter from Crutchfield. Used wiring harness 72-7902 and 72-6514 for the new speakers.
1 - Took cover off
2- Traced outline of area to cut with silver marker
3 - Used a utility knife to cut out the traced area
4 - Installed the mounting plate
5 - Filled with poly-fil (Walmart)
6 - Installed the speakers

Gatekeeper knuckle pod mounts with diode dynamics ssc1 sport pods, wide yellow with amber backlight. All this talk of northern lights visible getting to test them out right away tonight! And yes I did tighten the jam nuts up on that sway bar link when I saw them lose in the photo.

I recently became a diode dynamics ambassador, if anyone is looking for free shipping use the code ROCINANTE

How do you view it, on the factory screen?
Yes, through the factory screen. It won't display hi-def like the factory trail cam, but it is pretty decent for the price and ease of installation. I had to activate the cargo cam with JScan. You can enable it with Tazer and AlfaOBD as well. I'm sure there are other programmers/enablers.

I used the SSV Works JJT-SA065 speaker adapter from Crutchfield. This is the one that requires cutting as it sits more flush and doesn't stick down as low as the Select increments JLJT-Pods also at Crutchfield which may or may not require any cutting depending on the speakers you choose.
The two factory speakers in the sound bar have two different type of connectors so I used wiring harness 72-7902 and 72-6514 for the new speakers. Plug N Play with no cutting. The speakers I used are the JBL GTO609C. These got good reviews plus I didn't want to break the bank on a new set. You can get any speaker of your choice that are 6.5" or 6.75" to fit in the opening. You can get coaxial if you don't want to cut a hole for the tweeters of get component like mine. I used a hole saw bit to cut the opening for the tweeter. I believe the size was a 1.5". I was a little concerned about cutting the hole and getting it in the right place but the speaker adapter had a place prepared on the back side for drilling the hole, perfect placement. I just placed it on a 2X4 face down and drilled away. Quick and easy. I did have to use a half round file to open the hole slightly for the tweeter to fit. As far as cutting out the factory plastic to open things up, just mark the area with the mounting plate and use a utility knife with a new blade. I just placed the point of the blade on the line I drew and pushed it up until it went through. Then moved slightly in one direction and pushed through again. Continued to do this until it was done. I did NOT try to trace the line over and over. Pushing through worked well. If you have any questions just let me know.

BTW see you're in NH/ME. Love the area. Have been many times skiing there. Mt. Cranmore, Wildcat, Attitash/Bears Peak, Bretton Woods, Cannon, Waterville Valley and Loon. Was sorry to hear that the Old Man of the Mountain fell off. Stopped and took pictures a couple of times of it while traveling back and forth. Also went snowmobiling in Bartlett on Super Bowl Sunday one year. Many great memories from that area.
