I’m all but positive the cage was worn, which is normal after 60k miles, or likely way fewer. I was able to get three of the six ball bearings out without a drift punch or hammer. I could rotate the cage with my fingers. I think the new stuff will go in with much smaller tolerances.
Measure the diameter of the old and new balls. See if there is a difference.

I will, but don’t expect much of one. I’m guessing the cage wore more than the balls. Mostly immaterial anyway. Since both the cage and balls are being replaced. As long as the bell housing is good, it’ll be perfect again.

They look shot, better send them to me for further testing.😉

I wonder if there are magnets in the pan itself, like there are in the transmission pan.
All the engine oil pans I've ever had off, I've never seen magnets in any of them. Just magnetic drain plugs.

I don’t remember. I’m sure I have the plug somewhere, but I pulled it in 2021.

I'm looking for an aftermarket (apparently MOPAR doesn't have these) oil pan drain plug that is magnetic. Will that PPE Pan plug (if sold separately) fit a stock JT oil pan, or is there anyone else on the forum who can/will recommend a magnetic drain plug? Since the dealer is about to open up my engine (cam kit replacement), I'd like a magnetic plug to assist in identifying any metal that may show up after the dealer closes up the engine.
No recommendations, but the threads for the oem engine oil pan are M14x1.5 should be able to find one. I'm pretty sure I've seen others post about it.

If the threads are 14x1.5, that’s the same as the Oem pan. So as long as there’s clearance, the valve should work fine. Thanks. Possibly on the future list.

Neither of my engine oil drain plugs are magnetic.

Transmission pans - yes. Engine oil pans? Never seen a magnet in there.

I was talking about the stock pan. Don't know about the aftermarket pan.

Gotcha. I have a valve in my stock pan.
I keep looking at those, thinking I should get one. But I just changed my oil a few days ago.

They are SO nice. Just order one for your next change. I don’t even use a pan anymore. I drain straight into an empty 5 qt. And I know exactly how much comes out as a result.

Put on and test the soft doors. Both full and half.
Ready for summer.
