I did the same in two holes on my axle a couple weeks ago. Stopped dead before the bottom. It was filled with crap.
Being where it is dead Center underneath the truck and nearly 30k on it into figured some gunky crap was up there. Ill get it out tomorrow. Then the golding of the underneath of the truck continues!

Heat is the last option if pb blaster doesn't loosen it up. 89,000 miles, and it's set itself a home. It's soaking tonight and I'll hope to finish tomorrow.
A puller and a wake from a hammer pop right off there.

Pulled the driver side RCV for its rebuild.

Edit: since switching to iron knuckles, I’m obviously getting rust on the raw machined surfaces. Anyone spatter than me have any suggestions for preventing it some, without wrecking tolerances or screwing up the fit? I’d like to get the surface rust off before reassembly as well without removing metal. Where are the smart people? :)

Finished the brake reassembly on driver, and got the spring in. Damn these are tall. I’ve got some work to do with control arm adjustments to get it right for these. Should be fun to drive over rocks though.

And reattached all cable brackets. Then installed the top mount drag link end. And now sleep.

Passenger side front wheel bearing hub replaced. Some PB Blaster, WD 40, a whole lot of waiting, some ugga dugga whack f#ck ow and it came out. Cleaned the surfaces with a scotch brite pad, even cleaned the dust shield since @WILDHOBO made me feel guilty by doing that on his. Put back together and torqued to spec, and a final test drive, and what a difference. The old hubs were definitely shot.

45 years and the current hubs look pretty much like they did all those years ago - little change other than size, strength, and a few details. Same seal design, same o-ring, little difference.

I chopped the resonator off for more clearance. Wouldn't recommend, sounds like a tacoma now. No bullshit.
which one?, I took out the rear bumble bee butt resonator and replaced with a turn down exhaust tip and hardly any change in sound.
