Outstanding. My sensor not only had the flakes, but the seal had failed and it was full of oil. Many use potting compound to prevent that. I haven’t yet though. But I should.
Yeah ,the daggone sensor kit is like 330 bucks and it comes with 5 sensors and yeah have to keep trying each of them till one of em works . Which blows my mind. Different ohms of resistance I guess. Luckily I had no oil intrusion into the sensor "yet" 😅 seen a thread on the JL wrangler forum guy did a killer write up on the potting job.

And they can't narrow it down by VIN and so on - WEIRD. Dumb setup.

My understanding is that each of the 5 options have slightly different clearances, to account for different gear setups and shim packages. But I could be wrong. My sensor is actually replaced. A local shop had an extra one laying around from a five pack. I got lucky and it worked.

As I understand it . It is about ohms not CClearancesbut then again I could be wrong too. What's the odd of a random one laying in a shop working with your 5.13

Where did you get them from ?
The mud on the axles from yesterday makes it less shiny, but I still am happy with the solution. For some reason I repainted the front skid, but forgot to paint pen the bolts for the cover. In the rear I did the paint pen, and the skid is still rusty. No one knows what’s wrong with my brain.

Would button head bolts have worked? Larger contact area, shorter head profile.
Just curious as I'm always looking for simple changes.

I’m not sure it would stay the same even if they tracked what was installed at the factory. They tell you to start with 1 and move towards 5, so I’m guessing the clearance changes progressively. If I’m right that it’s clearance that’s different, it would be in thousandths. So one shim change at the pinion, or even bearing wear could change the sensor that’s used.

Or I’m crazy. Or both.

If I want to keep these axles long term, I really need to pull them out and go over them off the truck. There’s rust all over them. All surface, so I’m not that worried. There’s rusty axle housings in junkyards that can be easily cleaned up and put back into service.

They would, but I don’t like the shallow Allen socket. And because of my skids, I need to use a ball headed 6” 6mm Allen socket. For that reason, I like the deeper head. I used stainless washers to get the same contact surface as the Oem flange bolts.

I did the potting thing on both my sensors years ago and all is good.

For stock Oem cover, m8x1.25x20mm. For the lower 6 that go through my NVM skid and the spacer, 30mm was perfect.

Technically it was a couple weeks ago but I had the windshield and the driver and passenger windows tinted. I was leery of the windshield at first but I’m extremely happy with it! I’m trying to minimize the cabin heat on hot days as much as possible! I also did the boom mats on the hard top. I can tell a difference for sure.
