That's a smart setup. You can change your mind or go back to stock later and not have to swap parts. Should have great grip strength.
I hope so. I expected the split to contract when tapped into the knuckle. But it goes in by hand into the specified 7/8” drill hole. So I’m hoping their plan is to have it expand in the hole, as the tapered spindle is tightened into it. I hope it expands enough to be tight. Otherwise I’ll need a different sleeve.

Follow their torque setting and it should be ok. The idea of that specific taper degrees is that it literally stretches the part the tapered piece is going into.
A proper taper can handle some good horsepower - think of the axles in a stock AMC on the drag strip - the rear hubs are held to the axle shaft via a tapered joint. Granted, it's also splined, but the torque they use forced the axle so hard into the hub, it applied a certain amount of stretch to the hub. IT takes a whale of a hub puller or a good press to take them apart once proper let. There's guys running some decent HP through those hub to axle joints.
No reason these can't be good, too.

That was my hope. But I didn’t know that about amc axles. Love learning new things. Thanks. As far as torque, I’ll need to figure that out. Teraflex expects their spindle to go into a cast knuckle without a sleeve, but a machined taper. Apex provides the sleeve as a solution to for Oem taper size, so doesn’t provide torque for someone else’s fasteners. So I guess I’ll start with the teraflex torque spec, and move up until i think it’s tight.

You all that are moving to the tapered sleeves . That ⅞ hole your drilling why not buy 2 or 3 sizes each slightly bigger stepping up finally to ⅞ 🤔 then it will drill quicker and easier I would think 😉

I did. I used 4 sizes. Still not easy going into cast iron.

Drag link is in and pretty close to adjusted. But it didn’t fix the problem. It fixed the play in the wheel, but not the squeak. So back to hunting…

Fixed! Disconnected the track bar, pulled the sector shaft brace bearing, cleaned and oiled it, and resecured everything. Noise is gone. Steering feels good again. I won’t say great. If I say great, my wife will ask me why I’m upgrading to psc in a year.

Decent weather today and decided to rotate my tires and recheck the torques on all the suspension stuff from my axle swap a few weeks ago.

I removed 1 puck one each side of the rear per the suggestion of the Metalcloak Team from my trip on the CTI trailer last week.
How much lift, and how many pucks?
