Did the JTR's fourth oil change; second done by me. The first two were the Jeep Waves changes.

Both changes done by me used M1 Truck and SUV 0W20 10k mile and M1 20k mile filter, with mileage intervals in the 7-8k range, and maintenance minder showing around 10%. The M1 filter had plenty of tan color left, unlike the filter used by the dealer removed in the prior oil change. The oil was definitely dark.

There was an unplanned fifty minute round trip for a replacement oil plug. The rubber washer fell apart, or dissolved, nothing left around the threads but strings. The corners on the head also were showing some rounding

OilPlug.jpg
Keep in mind, different oil will darken for different reasons.
If oil A looks dark after 7,000 miles but oil B looks not as dark after 7,000 miles - it can simply be a difference in the chemistry, even in the SAME brand if it's a different version of their oil.

Midwest: Where sometimes it's -10 on Monday and 80 on Wednesday.
Welcome to our world, eh?

I grabbed it on Amazon for just under $17.

Here it is.
I ordered the 50 pack. More expensive, but cheaper per pad and I think I’ll use them. After watching the use video, I may remove all the exterior trim items just to not have to worry about the paint. It’ll make for a full day project, but should turn out great. Thanks again.

No photos, but I was seeing too much light reflection in my wolfbox mirror from the rear window, so I bought some static cling blackout film. The film sticks great to the glass, but does not stick tothe painted edges at all. Trying to decide if I ever so lightly try to trim the film with a razor around the painted areas, or if theres a better option.

I have a bunch of vinyl wrap left from the rack panels, but I fear that would leave a mess on the glass if/when I ever need to remove it.

Maybe sticker vinyl would be better?

For the last 4 days give or take, been crawling around on the driveway installing a set of mint salvage Mojave axles from a 2024 model. Ever since I put 33" tires on my 2025 Base Sport JT, have been less than ideal for my like with the stock 3.73 gears. Even after adjust in JScan, got tired of the hunting and pecking between 7th and 8th gear on the highway and many times, it would hang in gear too long before shifting.

This axles set was sold by VIN as coming from a 2024 Rubicon X model but found out after delivery it was from a Mojave X and settled with the seller on a partial refund to accept them rather than deal with the hassle of a freight return. They were still minty regardless and losing out on a front locker was low on my priority list. Had the usual salvage pull shipping or removal damage of the front axle vent tube and steering bar drag link end being damage for which I repaired.

Came time for the install and found that having three floor jacks and set of modified moving dollies made this job a bit easier as it is unbalanced on the dive axle axis moving around. I was a one man band for this whole job and with the axles weighing in excess of 400+ pound each as shown, a lot of leverage use of the floor jacks and large pry bars to move stuff around was need. Also retained my FAD system and swapped the FAD delete plate on the replacement front axle for the FAD motor assembly.

Like anything, it is all nut and bolts but pulling the abs sensors to let hang with the brake caliper assembly made it easier. Floor jack under the pinion yoke area was also needed once the driveshaft was disconnect or the whole axle will violent shift again on the axis if not watching carefully. Rest of the install was just the reverse of removal.

Edit: Did have to drill out the front lower shock bushing to 9/16" that would accommodate the 12mm to 14mm mount bolt hole difference on the Mojave front axles.

I did have a couple of "While I am in here" things to accomplish. One was installing a Rusty's Offroad front trackbar reinforcement bracket. The second was installing the "Power Hop" damper on the rear axle.

Lastly, adjust the axle ratio settings in JScan for the new 4.10 gear ratio and took it for test drive. Did have some ABS issues that freaked me out but that was because the steering wheel was about 45 degrees out to the left but that was resolved once the steering position was adjusted in and straight. Have driven close to 75 miles today and everything seems fine and drives just like my two previous Rubicon JT's.

Nice work. I'm not sure I would have been so kind with the axle mix-up, but good to make lemonade from lemons. Where did you get the round frame cross bar covers?

Yeah, the mix up was not ideal but the seller was willing to swap them out but this set was very low miles, had the steel knuckles and I had to factor in taking off work again for dealing with the both the pickup and second set delivery. Large freight delivery and tracking sucks, they do not give windows and you have to be home all day waiting on them.

Plugs I got here:

Find the same things on Amazon also.

At least the only real difference was the lack of front locker. If not really concerned about that, then negotiate the difference in value and call it good like you did..

There's a reason I went back to the 32.2' tire diameter on my 2020 instead of the 32.8" diameter of the Rubicon tires. Only .6" difference but the weight and size was enough I could tell it with the 3.73 ratio.

To be honest, there never was a use case when I had my two other Rubicon JT's where I used the front locker or needed it. I do not wheel that hard. To me, it was a nicety and not a necessity. Compensation difference the seller gave me would have bought me a locker if I really wanted it.

Interesting how that 0.6" makes a difference with 3.73 gears. When I had my two Rubicon JT's with standard 4.10's, it was not that much noticeable going from 33's to 35's to even be considered bothersome like it was with the standard 3.73 gears.

I would also add that extra 1.5" of going to these wide axles also makes a difference in it's stance and handling.

All very well said.
Echoes my experiences with the gearing, tires - and yeah, the axle width as well. It's just a "how it feels" thing, but after having both for a period of time, it's not my imagination.
I think you are going to be REALLY happy with your choices and I'm sure the install will be as good as they get.
