If it’s like the one I had a while back, it could rust. I’d keep up on protecting the finish. But it was very strong.
I have seen that before reported and shown by others. Had a JKS front track bar on prior JT’s I owned and just kept it sprayed with Fluid Film or equivalent and it held up fine. Will do the same here.

That’s all I’d do as well. If I’d known with mine I would have.

Coltron I would like to see the list and thanks for sharing.
I knocked it down to the bare minimum, I also had some tools I picked up like an M6 tap to clean out the nutsert threads of paint in the bed. And a deburring tool for the holes I drilled in the strut channels to mount them.

  • Front rail -- 3310T818 (Low profile, solid, black powder coated steel, 4 ft. lg)
  • Side rails (x2) -- 3310T589 (Standard profile, solid, black powder coated steel, 4 ft. lg)
  • Strut channel caps, low profile (x2, front) -- 3312T11
  • Strut channel caps, standard profile (x4 both sides) -- 3312T19
  • M6-1 x 20mm Flanged button head cap screws, 316 SS (box of 25, you'll need 12 minimum) -- 90909A729 (Don't have to be stainless, but I decided to. Be sure to lubricate threads to prevent galling. Blue Loctite will work for this. I ended up using 8 more of these for tonneau cover hardware, plus 4 M6 strut channel nuts for the front tonneau cover brackets -- 3259T33)

I went with solid channels because the slotted channels don't seem to line up with factory's placement of the nutserts in the bed. They have very wacky spacing. If I'm drilling holes anyway, no sense having wasted slots in the way IMO.

Tie downs were made using:
  • 800lb Tie down ring (x4) -- 33815T52
  • No-spin strut channel washer w/ 3/8" hole (x4) -- 3585T12
  • Plastic head thumb screws, 3/8-16 (x4) -- 91185A871
  • Strut channel nut, 3/8"-16 (x4) -- 3259T32
  • Unthreaded spacer, 3/4" OD, 3/8" Long, for 3/8" Screw -- 92510A795 (I went wrong here, because the CAD model where I put this all together made it appear that a 1/4" thick spacer would have been enough. I ended up finding 3/8" tall spacers at a local hardware, of course more costly, that made it work. McMaster's model of the tiedown loop isn't quite accurate.)

Below shows the way the channel washers, tie down, spacer and thumb screws all go together. This is showing it with the incorrect in real life 1/4" thick spacer. But you get the idea.

What did I do to the Gladi?

Put 3100 miles on for its first big road trip with the home built camper.

Do you pay for the app to get remote start or does your Jeep have premium tech package? I have the Uconnect without nav in my mojave (funny because the off-road pages still display lat and longitude) and in my app I only have lock, unlock, and ventilate. Nothing else. I do have remote start on my keyfobs though.

Also, STILL having random service 4x4 lights. Happened a couple times during our trip even when dry outside. Never happens at highway speeds, only at slow speeds.

Looks like I'll be inspecting the entire harness.

All I know is I do have Nav .. I thought all the upper trims had Nav.
However I pay 20 a month I think it is and I have all this other stuff in these screen shots also. Additionally I have the onboard wifi which really help in a rural setting as it is a wide band 4G different from old 4g and 5G and allows me to make calls through it and get on the internet in alot of places I otherwise couldn't do.
I guess its premium tech package Sirius XM also .

I cant recall did you remove the differential cover and see if the maget and sensor for the lockers was all covered in super fine metal dust ?

I did not yet. At first it seemed the issue was isolated to wet weather since it was only happeneing when raining, so I focused on connectors and getting dielectric grease in them, but the couple times it happened on this trip it was dry out, or at least not raining. It was morning and humid, so I guess theres a chance it's still moisture related.

It's about time for a fluid change anyways, so I'll check the mags.

Thank you, I think the $20/month is the difference, but I haven't called Jeep to confirm.
You can get a Mojave or Rubicon without the premium tech package. It still has most of the same features, but won't have nav, the Alpine audio, or an autodimming rearview mirror. Still has the wifi hotspot available, and sirius xm. Still got the heated and powered seats and garage door opener too.

It wasn't a sticking point on our purchase as we seldom use the built-in nav, but having the mirror with the manual dimming toggle underneath like it's 1996 is kinda funny. I'm betting it's all just software lockouts too. I bet there's zero physical difference behind our dashboards. I can't have HD radio? Really? That's entirely software. But I guess it won't be long until we'll have to pay extra to have any terrestrial radio in a car.

It was at 140 degrees when I drained it. I warmed the new fluid up to about 120-130 when I filled it.
That would have been too hot for my liking. I would have level checked and capped off at 90F. At 130F you’re already outside the top end of the temp window.

He filled at the 120-130 - the top end, but ok. Range for a reason.

You can do it all from under the truck with JSCAN and your phone - set JSCAN to show you temperatures, esp transmission, and then just sit, stand, or lay there and watch. When it hits the lower end of the temperature range, do your thing.

My bet - he's fine. There's a large range in temperatures, and the fluid contracts and expands a fair amount within that range, suggesting that there's no "absolutely perfect, must be right here" level inside, but it tolerates a range of +/- without issue.

He can check, but I'll place a quarter pounder with cheese on a bet - he's ok.

Fluid expansion is a concern for sure

You are not missing out. It is not worth $240 a year at all.

IF it was at 130 when it was filled, the issue COULD be that it might be a tad bit low. But that's easily enough checked.
It's not like he did it at 140 or more. And the rate isn't going to be that much different in 5 or 10 degrees.
