Weld in? Impressive. I don’t trust myself that much.
Yeah. Installing while axle is in the vehicle makes it difficult to get a good torch angle in places and getting my head in there with a helmet laying on my back makes for a sore neck after.

It’s been quite a few years since I’ve welded regularly and a got a new welder a couple months ago. With some practice it all comes back like riding a bike.

I’m definitely impressed. I’d be worried I’d burn through the tube.

No worries about burning through the tube. Pre heat the housing with map gas to get good penetration and then post heat so the welds don’t crack cooling.
Way over my arc welding head. :)

Q. How in the hell did you not roast and melt anything and everything around the axle tube with that mapp gas at 3600 degrees F with the axle still connected? ( to Dans point this knowledge is way above my welding pay grade as well)

Mig gun? If so, what wire and gas? Planning on doing this later using ER70 S2 wire and argon gas.

Yep, the windshield washer bottle logo was faded out, like it was rubbed raw or something. Struck me as odd, also. Why that ?? Everything else was pristine. I have a fat Sharpie, carefully did a couple coats letting each dry. I thought it, too, would rub off, nope.

It's the attention to the little details that make it look good.

I use the sharpie on the high and low marks on every plastic fluid container under the hood… helps out with my old eyes on my quick check before every adventure.

Remove the FAD. This had to come off anyway to get access to weld the truss above and infront of it. Fiberglass welding blanket wrapped around brake hose and abs cables when welding in that area.

Well it looks like battery change time for me possibly. Went to take the recycling and it won’t even turn over. Tried removing the F42 fuse to see if that would help me out but it didn’t. Now to let the jump starter charge while I feed the dogs and then give er a boost. I don’t think I left anything on so I’ll get it on the tester and verify that it’s truly dead.

Mine was showing some signs last month. Wen ahead and bought a battery at Sams when they had them on sale for $20 off. Havent put mine in yet, but it gave me a couple more signs yesterday. So I will be changing mine either one night after work or this weekend. I will also be "deleting" my Aux battery.
