Nice work. I really need to check my passenger front. The mirror won’t adjust on the down/up axis. I’m guessing a broken wire based on your post. How did you open the fabric cover?
I used wire snips along the seam. I guess if ya had patience, you could use a seam cutter from a sewing kit. After taping the wire bundle, I taped the nylon strap partially back together.

I used some extra daylight that we have to get my wolfbox mocked up and mounted to my rubigrid. Going to ride around a few days to make sure I like the placement before I modify the rubigrid for the wires to fit through and running all the wiring etc. If I dont like it ill just mount in the normal placement.

Looks good! I considered this as well only lower a bit to fit flush with the top of the infotainment. Only reason I didn’t is I haven’t dug into that area much so unfamiliar. Maybe 1 day I’ll move it down there if I find a Garmin mount I like to mount up top for trail navigation.

@WILDHOBO the mirror adjustment is on the driver's door, I'd bet you cut a wire on the driver's bundle
Maybe. But up/down works on the driver door, so it’s a toss up which one it is. The controller side, or the mirror side.

Edit: I need to borrow a passenger door for two minutes to find out for sure.

There must be a way to get access to that bundle without cutting a seam. I mean there doesn’t have to be, but I hope there is.

I think you could pull off the interior door panel, pull off the clip securing the wiring inside the door, and slide the sleeve up far enough to expose the compromised wires

At first glace I also thought id want it a little lower, but I think it may work out with still being able to use the phone Mounts. Like I said I havent dont anything permanent yet so if placement is annoying or I dont like it then itll go in normal configuration.

Sounds fun, but I’ve done crazier things. Someday when it bugs me enough. Thankfully it’s adjusted correctly. :)

Something like this could work though, with virtually any bumper.

And these brackets could likely be used pretty much anywhere.

Yeah, personally I like this mounting position: on the frame behind the bumper on either side. That's where I mounted mine. You can just see the ICON emblem name in there.

2020 Rubicon with factory steel bumper in case anyone was wondering...

Be sure to update with your thoughts. I've thought about moving mine down like that simply because we already have such a small windshield and it blocks a bit of view. The only real reason I hesitate is becuase I use the forward cam when on trail and it being mounted up high is nice.
