This is more what I DIDN'T do. Apparently, I DIDN'T do something when I moved my trailer brake controller over from the old JT to the new one. Haven't used the big trailer all winter. Grabbed grabbed it from where I keep it elsewhere on the property so I could install E-tracks on it, and realized the brake controller is not working. Also, the bolts I got are just a tad short where they go thru the cross braces, so I can't even finish the trailer until I get longer bolts Monday. That gives me all day Sunday to figure out the brake controller, I guess.
PS: drilling 48 holes thru 1/4"steel sucks!

Well, that was easy. The plug that goes into the module from the remote dial (Curt Spectrum brake controller) wasn't quite pushed in all the way.
So spent the rest of the day making maple syrup, drinking cocktails, and smoking cigars.

Heading to Moab in 2 weeks. All fluids and bolts checked.

Lifted each corner just to make sure noting was binding and all the clearances were good.

Everything looked perfect just hoping to get my new rear bumper in the next week so I can get that put on. She had more flex in her but my Bobcat did not have enough rear ballast to goany higher.

I think I finally got my engine/trans skid adjusted to where it's not rubbing the oil pan.

Chopped the tusks on the front. Didn't want to remove the sway bar from the bushings to remove the mount to get a cutoff wheel in there, so... plasma cutter made quick work. The rear of the winch seems supported enough for the commute back and forth to work for now. I ordered up some 1/4" steel plate and picked up a press brake I'm going to use to bend up new mounting tabs that'll support the winch further up on the frame.

Measured the rear droop for limit straps and ordered some up.

Washed the salt off.

Limit straps. A smidge short but figure they'll stretch out some more. The right coil is just loose enough to rotate it by hand. Kind of annoyed I need to limit the suspension this much but it is what it is. I haven't seen evidence of any other HD coils with a longer free length handling the weight as well as the AEVs. Maybe I'll order a couple different sets of rear coils and swap them out, but I'm really happy with how this rig drives at the moment.

Finally had more than two minutes of downtime so finally installed the Rock Hard Aluminum bumper I bought last summer.

Easy install, I shouldn't have waited so long!

Shaved about 40 pounds off of the rear end!

I considered those but ultimately they looked annoying to work with and I knew I'd be pissed off every time I had to do something with the coils. And the top loops on the AEV coils are real tight, that looked potentionally problematic. So I am probably sacrificing a bit of articulation using straps vs coil retainers but in reality if you're stretching a coil with the weight of the axle, you're not putting down any usable traction anyway. At least that's my thought.

The coils are marketed as 3" lift height, I'm right at 4" all around with spacers in the front as well, with the Jeep sitting at probably close to 6400 lbs now.

I’ve been very happy with my rear EVO heavy duty springs.

Got any pictures of how it sits loaded up?

I do notice their HD gas springs are the same part number as their regular diesel springs and they don't seem to sell an HD diesel spring.

I must have had a bad set
I haven’t been impressed with them on wife’s 4Runner either. Once these are worn down we’ll be moving to something different. Depending on how far along the build we are we’ll be looking for 35x10.5 for hers.

They’re the same spring. They had trouble getting gas people to buy the diesel springs. Or the other way around. I don’t remember. Mine are reasonably big. 6.5” hd/diesel. 4.5” regular duty in the front. Since putting these springs in, these pictures are about as good as I could find. But it’s never been lower than level. The Willy’s was a decent amount of load. My cargo trailer has a Garrod tongue weight depending on load, but around 400 I’d guess. When I had the Willy’s on the trailer, I also had hundreds of pounds of tools and recovery gear in the bed. Probably 400lbs or more in the bed. Maybe more. I didn’t weigh it.
