Installed my "customized" mount for the GMRS radio microphone.
Jeep Gladiator What did you do TO your Gladiator today? [ADMIN WARNING: NO POLITICS, NO GUN TALK] IMG_2900

Started out with this universal holder, but it didn't hold the mic that securely and the banging against the dash trim panel was going to drive me nuts.

The universal mount is "Areyourshop" brand, don't remember where I bought it from. Already had the Jeepuniq mount for the Midland mic, the middle piece I got from Tackform:
Diamond Base with 20mm Ball Coupler
Ditched the mounting base because it was too wide for the universal bracket. Some cutting, drilling, priming and flat black spray paint and it turned out good enough.

I know there are options to mount directly on the grab bar, or on the decorative hex bolt in the grab bar, but those seemed like they put the mic too far into the passenger's personal space.

They, the government wants you to get license to talk on a radio? How about a license to talk on the cell phone? How about some paper to cover my dirty butt, wait that has been covered by the rolled up paper industry, does that need a license to use? HAM kids, I’m buying one today to put into service, come get me, I’m right here, need an address?
Hopefully you won't need to relay through a repeater; some require a callsign to go through. And you can't just make up one, every callsign is searchable by anyone. Repeaters are owned by someone or a club, they make the rules. You can't transmit that far without going through several repeaters.

Wait a minute...are you a Sovereign Citizen ??? Do you "travel" in your Jeep, and not drive it ??

Had the local off road shop balance the tires today. They're way booked up and squeezed me in, so that was cool of them. They gave everything a once-over while it was on the lift and had nothing but good things to say. I like those guys and respect the work they do, so it was a nice bit of validation even if my garage-monkey cocky-ass self already knew my Jeep is set up just the way I want it. Nice to hear some other folks that see thousands of rigs compliment it.

Got out on a little flat side road to test the 0-60 with the new gears. 92° outside, tires at 30 psi. 45,000 miles on the Jeep.

I think it's about the same as before, quicker in any given gear but more shifts to get through. Video always makes it look slow. It's not fast, but it is spunky. Pretty damn impressive technically to think it's only a little 3.0 and it's turning 40s. Have to throw it in 4wd to keep it from roasting the tires in the first couple gears. The MRT transmission tune plays much better with the 4.88s and 40s than it did with the 3.73s. And it'll get off the line a lot faster if I brake boost it but I'm hesitant to now with the smaller pinion and a trip next week.

The gears were totally worth it for general drive-ability, though. Much more pleasant. People keep saying the diesel doesn't need gears... I disagree. I mean I guess technically it doesn't need gears, but technically the gasser doesn't either.

This is the Jeep for those that haven't seen my other posts. Diesel, "stage 2," AEV snorkel, AFE intake and intercooler tubes, 4.88s, 40s. Full size spare, armor, winch, drawers, rack and RTT, trusses, etc. Pretty heavy. I'll get it on the scale sometime this week.

Still waiting on a 50L water tank, fuel/oil filters to show up, then we load up and head for the Rubicon, among other places.

I did for the first 1500 miles.

Although tbf the front doesn't have hardly any miles on it but what are you going to do? They'll get broken in somehow.

Oh okay. I thought that was fresh from the garage . I am getting 4.88's in July .
I was always told and read that the frint with the slow travel of 4wd it breaks in slowly over time and the rear takes the majority of the stress.

Nicely done, that looks smart.

Not even gonna take that as a shot, Wall-E is sick...
O I'm serious, could you imagine a Joose Willey's decked out with your Bi-LED headlights slightly tilted in along with the V2 taillights, grill lights all dressed up as Wall-E with custom stickers?

That would blow people away at the shows!

My wife says I come up with the strangest tangent thoughts. But the second I saw those headlights I wanted a Joose Willey.

Well, I stripped the tape loom up past 2 Christmas trees, no cracks kinks or breaks. BUT, when I removed the harness plug, the clip lock was not engaged. So, hopefully the plug was just coming loose, causing the intermittent "SERV 4WD"
The seals in those plugs dry out over time, so using a little dielectric grease is a good idea also.

I'm chasing an intermittent light as well. Harness has been repaired once already by the dealership, but now its out of warranty and I don't feel like paying their inflated shop rates for sub-par work.

Feel free to use my response to my wife whenever I say odd things:

Her: What's it like in your world ??
Me: It's a happy place and I'm the King.

We've been together since 1988, married since 1991. You'd think she'd stop asking that by now, but nope.

Quadratop SkyLite a.k.a. Putco Element Sky View panoramic top. Mixed bag reviews and did a 50 mile loop to see if I was going to post it here or in the classified section. Did a touchless carwash along the way and no leaks. I'd never shed my Freedom panels and have just a tick over 5K miles on the odo so that may factor into my, so far, positive experience. A bit of additional road and wind noise versus the OEM headliner panels but nothing obnoxious. Weird weather here right now so won't really know what my opinion is going to be until I get some triple digit sunny days.

Curious over time if the sun will bake it. Seeing you are in Nevada I'd imagine it will get hot. Is there any light tint on it?

I am too. I should have a pretty good idea by the end of August between what the specifications claim and what the real world demonstrates. The tops are tinted (18%) and they claim a -200F to +150F range. Their words, not mine...

I am so going to use that line the next time my wife asks "What world do you live in?" Please speak kindly of me at my eulogy. :CWL:
