Not today, but recently;

Received and installed the Campone Unilift Combo camper shell and trying to figure out how I want to build out the back of the truck now.

Also rebuilt the enclosure for my drawer system. Was originally out of 1/2" ply, now it's out of 3/4" hardwood ply and much gooder. Should have the drawers and top slide out finished up tonight after work.

Did you do a thread on this? I’m interested in doing a 1 sided version of this with stacked storage.

<------- I have a build thread, but haven't updated much with this latest stuff. I'll be updating it soon, but honestly I have been so busy trying to get everything done that I haven't taken much time to take photos or notes on what I've been doing.

I can say the drawers are most likely temporary. I was already in the process of (re)building them when I came across this camper shell, so I'll use them until I decide what I want to do next since this camper shell is a pass through design. I'd like to be able to escape into the back of the truck during inclement weather, so I want to brainstorm some modular seating/storage designs.

This is indirectly for the JT - as I pull this trailer with the JT and want to power the little winch on the trailer with the truck. So, I am making it so that I can either use a battery on the trailer, or my truck.
I have a connector mounted in the truck bed.... (wiring run along frame from engine bay to anderson in bed wall thanks to the crazy hobo guy since I can't lay under vehicles any more)

Ideas/points behind this mod:
I didn't like having a long cord on the winch at all times - wire exposed to the sun and worse.
I want to power the winch from my truck's bed connector.
I want the option to power the winch from some other source, say a battery somewhere.

Idea:
Make a cord that will plug in at the winch on the trailer and run to the connector in the truck bed.
Make a second cord that will plug in at the winch on the trailer and have clips that can connect to the battery.

Connector in truck bed - powered through winch solenoid so I hit aux 3 to trigger the solenoid. Protected by this 50 amp breaker

Anderson connector in bed -

Another connector on the trailer - now to make the cable that will connect the two. It's a tilt-bed trailer so the winch won't be running very hard. I did the math on the incline vs. the weight being pulled up said incline in degrees and figured a 2500 pound winch will only need about 1200 pounds pulling power. If I used a snatch block, even LESS. We pulled a 383 Firebird up the trailer using my winch and a battery charger a while back!

Why a breaker here since there's one in the engine bay? Well, if I use a battery or something other than my truck, this will be a breaker in that case.
I have some cleanup and rearranging to do, some things aren't clean and straight, some wires could be shorter, that sort of thing - but it's getting there.
When winter comes, 2 nuts and 5 screws and I can pull the wiring off for the winter and cover the winch.

rather than remove the wiring in the winter, why not just drop a box over the whole installation to protect it from the weather Year round?

Removed my .85" Antirock and installed a 1.125" Antirock. Std one was great till the addition of the Alucab canopy camper. Larger bar with shorter arms is perfect now.

This is one of my next upgrades, I just haven't enjoyed looking at the $1600+ price tag...

I work in the fire truck industry and this drawer system scratches all the right itches 🤣

If I had a bed cap I'd be tempted to build myself something similar.

I started building it before I found this pass through camper shell. I finished the drawers to use for the next couple trips, and I was going to design a new bed setup wher I could sit inside and utilize the tent pass through, but now that they are done and seeing how well it turned out I'm now second guessing if I want to use the pass through of the tent lol
