This is getting to be a habit for many of us, so I thought it needed a thread. Seems like a fun one for one off mod collaboration.

For a friend, @tredzlitely, made a spacer to fix a clearance issue. A new, very nice rear bumper caused a clearance issue opening the trailer wiring covers. Made a quick 1/4” steel spacer to drop the connectors that much lower. We’ll see tomorrow if it needs any adjustments before paint.

Fabrication has become my new favorite thing. My New Year's resolution was that I'm going to learn to weld this year. We're almost half way through the year, but there's still time.

Jay, if you can weld the hdpe to the sheet metal then i won't need to drill into it. thus saving me pariah status!

Love it. Can’t wait to see the results.

Instslled the spacer on my friends JL today while doing his tranny fluid. Fit great and you can’t even see it. Fixed the problem perfectly.

I’ve been welding since I was 14, but at some point I should learn how to do it. I do it wrong each and every time. But it’s fun anyway.

i'm ALMOST ready to contact Haas Automation for a cnc to replace my trusty Craftsman router, but not quite! like gravity, the old adage "measure once, cuss twice" is constant. yes, the table saw cut did slice into the pocket created by my cnc oops router. after exhausting the vocabulary in all of the universe to vent my frustration, think Johnny Dangerously, i could melt my mounds of shavings, not coleslaw, and repair my guffaw. the finished product, she ain't pretty but neither is my Jeep at the moment, should keep the tail lights on. yeah yeah yeah i know "slow down", "use your mirrors" "get three more spotters". i am loving the life the bride and i have. she likes it too!

I had no idea where this was going. Such a great idea. Can’t wait to see them in person in August.

I wanted to mount my Midland MXT275 GMRS radio tucked up in the driver's side footwell, but I have the Mopar trailer brake controller mounted up in there already.

So I bent up some brackets out of 2" x 1/8" aluminum that attach to the lower holes of the dash support frame (below where the trailer brake controller mounts) that then attach the mount that the radio slides into.

There is enough "standoff" in the brackets I made so that the body of the radio clears the body of the trailer brake controller.

I did have to use a 90 degree UHF connector on the back of the radio, there just wasn't enough room between the firewall and the back side of the radio for the straight coax connector.

I want to know how that swing away is tied into the frame. Pics would be great. Does it flex at all?

i have not seen any side effects due to twist , flex or sag. it is from expedition one and is extremely beefy. it utilizes a double latch release which requires minimal strength to squeeze. this unit is a direct replacement for the oem bumper. i retained my towing capacity and relocated the oem camera into a sensor hole in the bumper. exp one provides plugs for the holes if yours does not have sensors. i suspect they may be a small outfit as it took eight weeks to get last year, however the engineering and fabrication of the bumper and arm is through the roof. it is listed as weighing 180 lbs, certainly heavy. from that, deduct the the weight of the oem bumper. i would buy one again in a heartbeat.
