What is this part and what is it’s purpose? Was giving me hell when taking off my stock bumper and attempting to install my new bumper. Holes were slightly off from the frame rail where the bumper studs go into, making it impossible to get the bumper lined up in the holes.

Looks like the big hole in front of the mount bolt are designed to help with assembly. Also, crazy Engineers figure/design what's needed for structural integrity. Bumpers can take loads from a few different directions. Looks like your frame in proximity to the bumper mount has suffered from an unusual pull. The bumper will stay in place without those brackets but how this effects the integrity of the bumper system is unknown. If your in the process of taking it off for a new bumper don't worry about it.

Well it looks like it also tie into the hooks. If it does it will help with them not ripping off to a point if your using them in pulling situation.

No issues with those lining up on mine. Possibly related to your damaged during transport problem.

When I installed my Rock Hard front bumper, top hole on drivers side outside had to be reamed out with a drill bit. It is offset a little bit and the bolt wouldn't go straight through.

Exact same issue I had with my RH bumper install. I reamed out hole with a drill bit.

BTW, you might want to remove that rust and hit that area w/some black paint to keep that rust in check. Not trying to pick out negative stuff. Just something to keep in check.

That's a support bracket. It's normally on the plastic bumpers only as a support. But has been known to show up on a few steel bumpers. You don't need them. Especially if you're installing an aftermarket bumper. Put them in a box and put them in your garage somewhere out of the way.
