Is this some kind of extreme “keep the pumpkin from punching through the bed in case of severe bottoming out” plate?

I believe that is what it is for in an accident, just for giggles is there still a differential shock mount on the frame about 18” in front of differential.? Mine had it and I ended up getting the shock and differential bracket for on top for my 2021 Mojave….Jack

Nice. I can’t recall but I think it is, found a thread on those early on and went looking.

I like finding stuff like this, just find it interesting.

There is some combo of options that ended up with certain JT’s getting a shock right on top of the middle of the diff. I think it was something to combat axle hop?

Some manual transmission equipped Gladiators got a rear third shock for the differential to help mitigate wheel hop. To my knowledge, there has been no known combination of why some manuals got it and the vast majority of manual did not. The curved cupped cage is a leftover of that.

If you see one on automatic, it is because somebody added it after the fact.

to clarify- if you see the third shock on an auto it’s cuz someone added it. Not the cup, as that’s welded in lol

Chad did not come from factory with the diff shock, but had the frame mount and a couple of us got them. I had wheel hop going over beach dune crossings in deep
soft sand, with both my Factory springs and the current Max Tow springs with
1 3/8” spacers to make the short max Tows match Mojave springs.
Huge improvement in hop, there is none can’t really make it happen and the rear has a “more planted or firmer feel” only way to explain. Weird thing is the glorious Mojave was built for sand nothing else, 😎

My 23 automatic has it and I did not add it. Always wondered what it was.
